The mother of an autistic teenager who disappeared without a trace from his Tennessee home has accused a YouTube detective of threatening her safety.
Andra Griffin, known to her fans as ‘Bullhorn Betty,’ has been investigating the baffling disappearance of 15-year-old Sebastian Rogers, who was reported missing from his Hendersonville home on February 26.
Sebastian’s mother, Katie Proudfoot, has obtained a temporary protective order against Griffin that prevents him from coming within 100 feet of her or her home.
“She threatens us and posts live as she drives past our house,” Proudfoot said.
“She is dangerous and is threatening my safety and that of my family and is telling her followers to help her and do the same.”
YouTuber Andra Griffin, also known as ‘Bullhorn Betty,’ has gained thousands of fans for her investigations into missing persons cases and unsolved crimes.
But the parents of missing teenager Sebastian Rogers have obtained a temporary protection order against Griffin, accusing her of threatening their family.
Thousands of police officers and volunteers helped search for Sebastian after he disappeared in the middle of the night nearly six months ago.
His mother last saw him climbing into bed after taking out the trash the night before he disappeared.
Her mother claimed she heard a ‘noise’ coming from her bedroom that night.
“I was doing something in his room because about an hour later I heard a noise and I was like, ‘I don’t care what you’re doing in there, but go to sleep,'” she said.
‘At six o’clock I went to wake him up to go to school on Monday morning and that’s when he wasn’t there.’
In March, eerie images were released of the back of the house Sebastian disappeared from, revealing two light sources in the distance and another closer to the house.
Authorities have not yet been able to determine if one of the light sources was Sebastian, but they believe the images suggest a second person was outside the home that night.
The case has attracted national interest and an army of “true crime” Internet sleuths offering their theories about the disappearance, including Griffin, who has nearly 200,000 online followers.
The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office says there is no evidence of foul play and the case remains open, but Griffin claims Sebastian’s parents are not telling the truth about his disappearance.
Sebastian Rogers, 15, was reported missing from his family home in Hendersonville, Tennessee, on February 26 after disappearing into the night without his shoes.
A possible photograph of missing autistic teenager Sebastian Rogers has been circulating on social media, more than four months after he went missing.
“Everyone is noticing their lack of interest in Sebastian and they are more concerned about themselves and their reputation to the point where they are willing to lie under oath,” she said in a video on Friday.
‘I will not be a victim of your criminal enterprise.
“They already look horrible as it is, but by intentionally making themselves look even more guilty than they were… they are exhibiting problematic behavior.”
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said more than 2,000 square miles around the home have been searched on foot, and aerial searches have been conducted using helicopters, drones and a fixed-wing aircraft.
But the only possible sighting has been in a mysterious photograph taken by a woman at a rest stop near a visitor center in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina, showing a man who looks a lot like Sebastian.
The woman then turned the photo over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and her friend posted it online.
Days after the photo began circulating on social media, Seth Rogers, the teen’s biological father, told NewsNation that he “believes it’s his son and he’s just across state lines.”
He also hopes that the FBI will intervene in the case.
‘My private investigator has spoken to the person who took the video (and the photo). I hope the FBI will take the lead.
“Because I believe that’s my son and he’s on the other side of the state line. I would really appreciate it if the FBI would step up,” Seth said.
She also told the outlet she has “no idea” where Sebastian might be living, or with whom, in North Carolina, especially since it’s a six-hour drive from her home in Tennessee.
In June, she told NewsNation that finding her son “doesn’t seem like a shared goal” with Sebastian’s mother and stepfather, Chris Proudfoot.
“There has been no contact between me and the Proudfoots,” he added. “It’s like I’m the only one missing my son.”
Days after the photo began circulating on social media, Seth Rogers, the teen’s biological father, told NewsNation that he “believes it’s his son and he’s just across state lines.”
Seth had previously said his son would not get into a stranger’s vehicle.
A hearing in Sumner County Court on Aug. 8 will decide whether to extend Proudfoot’s protective order.
Griffin, who has previously posted from his home in Florida about cases including Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger and the disappearance of Missouri student Riley Gaines, insists he has not harassed Sebastian’s family.
“I have never met this woman in person. I have never contacted her by phone, email or text; I have never responded to any of her Facebook posts. I have not spoken to this lady,” he told whjl.com.
“This isn’t about Seth Rogers, Katie Proudfoot or Christopher Proudfoot. This is about where Sebastian Rogers is and how we can bring him home.”
