Steve McManaman claimed Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-jae had a “night to forget” after Thomas Tuchel’s side allowed Real Madrid to come from behind to secure a 2-2 draw in their first Champions League semi-final.
Vinicius Jnr opened the scoring at the Allianz Arena, freeing himself from poor positioning by Kim before side-footing the ball around Manuel Neuer into the back of the net.
Bayern responded with a goal from Leroy Sané and a penalty from Harry Kane, but the hosts failed to finish the match: Kim conceded a penalty in the 83rd minute, bringing down Rodrygo inside the area.
It was a costly mistake that allowed Vinicius Jr. to even the score at 2-2 and give Madrid a lifeline ahead of the second leg at the Bernabéu.
“Careless, so careless you can’t touch him,” McManaman told TNT Sports of Kim’s lack of discipline inside the penalty area.
Kim Min-jae had a difficult night as Bayern Munich drew 2-2 against Real Madrid on Tuesday.
The defender was criticized by Steve McManaman for giving away a penalty in the second half.

‘It doesn’t matter what level you play at. Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes, they will cost them dearly,’ he added.
“That was the lifeline that Real Madrid needed. Beautiful ball from Vini Jnr. Good poke ball for Rodrygo.
‘But why does he (Kim) make the decision to board? Eric Dier is the sweeper behind him!’
Reflecting on Bayern’s inability to close out the match, McManaman later said: “Kim has had a night to forget at this level. Can he turn it on again next week at the Bernabeu?
It was Vinicius Jnr’s excellent pass to Rodrygo that forced Kim to make the tackle, and Glenn Hoddle praised the Brazilian for the excellent ball that forced the defender to tackle Rodrygo to the ground.
“Vinicius does very well here and it’s like he enters the area saying ‘bring me in’,” Hoddle told TNT Sports.
‘But what a cute little ball (to Rodrygo). Because the ball is so cute, he put Kim on the wrong side. He tried to make the tackle but it was an easy decision for the referee. Again it is a nailed penalty. But what a beautiful dance that Vinicius had.”
Kim protested to referee Clement Turpin, who awarded him the penalty.
Rodrygo tackled him and threw him to the ground in an attempt to stop the striker.
Bayern finally gave up a 2-1 lead to Madrid after Vinicius Jnr converted a penalty.
Glenn Hoddle also claimed that Kim had been too aggressive to allow Vinicius Jr to score first.
Hoddle also gave his verdict on Vinicius Jr.’s first goal, stating that Kim had gotten too close to the Real Madrid striker, allowing the Brazilian to pick up the ball and run it past Manuel Neuer in the net.
Hoddle said: “From Kim’s point of view, when an attacker moves away from you to do a sort of simulated run, you don’t run in, you go in stages.”
“He never did, he ran in one go and they caught him very quickly.” Then the ball went back and Vinicius completely killed it.
Owen Hargreaves added on the first goal: “I think Kim came in today and was trying to be too aggressive. We see a lot of defenders trying to press and be really aggressive, sometimes just standing still.
“I think when you watch the game, the first goal is very avoidable. I just think they will look at that and think: we just have to go to Madrid and correct our mistakes.
