Stephen A. Smith criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for not holding a press conference or participating in a one-on-one televised interview since leading the Democratic ticket.
Harris has not taken any action since President Joe Biden announced last month that he would not seek re-election and endorsed Harris to become the next president of the United States.
Harris is the presumptive Democratic nominee, as the party has united behind her after Biden dropped out of the presidential race.
The lack of a press conference or recorded interview with Harris has been criticized by her political opponents.
Now Smith is joining their ranks, hoping to hear back from her, though he admits Harris already has her November vote in the bag.
Smith has criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for not being more accessible
Harris has not held a press conference or interview since Joe Biden stepped aside
“It’s been three weeks and one day since Joe Biden stepped aside,” Smith said. “The only place we’ve seen Kamala Harris is at endorsements. Somebody needs to say something.”
“And it can’t just be conservatives. Right is right,” Smith continued. “I’m talking to my sister, come on. You’re running for president of the United States of America. You have my vote. Why are you hiding? I mean, you’re hiding in plain sight.”
“Not one press conference, not one personal interview where someone can question you… That’s not fair,” Smith added.
Smith concluded that Harris’s critics clamoring to hear more from her without filters have every right to complain.
The ESPN analyst drew a line at anyone who used Harris’ race or heritage as a way to criticize her.
Smith suggested asking her about her record, especially since she is attached to Biden’s record and has been promoting it during the campaign.
