A Las Vegas mother and her sister sobbed in court as they were sentenced for killing two young children in a horrific drink-driving crash that left one of the children decapitated.
Raenysa Washington’s daughters Rose and Taylor, ages 2 and 3, were killed in 2022 when her sister Kaleah Manning, 27, lost control of a pickup truck while speeding and driving drunk.
On Thursday, prosecutors revealed that the children were not in car seats because Washington, 25, who was also in the van, had sold them just a week before their deaths, according to the report. 8 News Now.
Manning and Washington’s mother sobbed in court as she pleaded for mercy for her daughters, and a relative walked her out of the courtroom as she cried.
Manning was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison for the two deaths and Washington, who is now pregnant, was sentenced to 364 days in jail and five years probation for child abuse or neglect.

Washington asked to begin his sentence on Monday so he could spend the day with his son, who was born after his daughters died, but Judge Erika Mendoza ruled that his sentence begin immediately.
“The problem is that I’m not sure that all of these mistakes are things that could happen to a responsible parent,” Mendoza said.
The sisters must also pay $10,000 to a victims’ fund that helped pay for the children’s funerals, plus a mandatory $2,000 fine.
Manning’s blood alcohol level after the crash was found to be .191, more than twice the legal limit in Nevada.
Three-year-old Little Taylor and two-year-old Rose Wilmer were killed in the crash on Scott Robinson Boulevard around 9:15 p.m.

Horrific photos show the van was badly damaged and police reports reveal that both girls were not in child seats on the night of the incident.
He allegedly left the road and hit the sidewalk before clipping trees and crashing into a light pole and a wall, before crashing head-on into a large palm tree.
Manning pleaded guilty to two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in death, and Washington confessed to two counts of child abuse.
According to Las Vegas police, the drunk driver was slurring her speech and had a “strong odor of alcohol coming from her mouth every time she opened it to speak.”

Police also said her eyes were bloodshot and she kept repeating the same thing.
Rose died at the scene, while Taylor was rushed to University Medical Center but eventually succumbed to her injuries.
Both women were rushed to hospital, where they were handcuffed to their beds while they recovered from their initially critical injuries.
Manning and Washington lived together at the same address with the two girls.
