Snoop Dogg arrived ready for action at Saturday’s Grand Prix Special for dressage teams, fully equipped to hop in the saddle if necessary.

Accompanied by Martha Stewart, the doyenne of American lifestyle literature and television, Snoop Dogg wore trousers, a dress coat and a helmet as he took a tour of the grounds of the Château de Versailles.

“Snoop The Stallion,” one fan reacted on X, while another said “Snoop Stallion is really getting on his high horse.”

Snoop Dogg made a famous comment about dressage at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when he referred to German rider Isabell Werth’s mount as a “slow-gaited horse.”

The rapper and actor was able to enjoy an excellent performance from British rider Becky Moody, who achieved the best score in the first round aboard her horse Jagerbomb.

She is working for US channel NBC during the Games and has enjoyed a busy season in Paris, carrying the Olympic flame for a short leg of the final relay before appearing in a number of events including gymnastics.

Snoop Dogg, whose full name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., said of his time as a torchbearer: “One thing I’ll be able to live with and be happy with (is) knowing that I was the face and voice of peace at that moment in time.”

Snoop Dogg’s presence certainly created a stir around the place, with Moody’s teammate Carl Hester saying news of his arrival had caused a stir around the stables.

He said: ‘I never got to meet him, but of course the word around the stables was that he was there and everyone was looking for him in the vault.

“It’s fantastic that he’s enjoying dressage and that he was here.”

But despite his passion for horses, Snoop Dogg has yet to ride one in his life.

“I’m still afraid of horses,” the 52-year-old admitted to Today.com.

Earlier this week, four-time major winner Rory McIlroy shocked fans when he revealed that dressage is his favourite Olympic sport.

The Northern Irishman, who is representing Ireland in Paris, once said of the equestrian discipline at the Tokyo 2020 Games: “The only thing that’s being celebrated tonight and what I’ve always wanted to go to is dressage. Always.”

“It’s just… it’s fascinating and it’s on tonight at about 7:30. I’ll watch it on TV.

“I just see it once every few years, obviously, and it’s like, I don’t know, it’s fascinating and really cool. I don’t know.”
