A shopper was left in shock after finding packages of “variety meat” at a Food 4 Less grocery store.

Tajh Shani Evans’ video was posted on TikTok and shows him picking up the yellow packets labelled ‘Various Meat’.

The video shows Evans picking up the first package of pale cut beef on sale for $1.98 and saying, “Man, this variety meat is evil.”

He was then shocked to find another package of lighter meat with the same ‘Various Meat’ label priced at $5.98.

“Oh my God, another one!” he exclaimed in the Video that has been shared more than 24,000 times..

The 'assorted meat' was labeled without an ingredient list and cost a low $1.98, with the second package at $5.98.

One user commented:

Evans posted the video saying the “assorted meat” was “diabolical” and was shocked to find a second item with the same vague label.

Users commented that the ‘mystery meat’ was ‘sick’ and expressed their surprise at the price.

One commented: “Isn’t it mandatory to include an ingredient list? I wouldn’t buy that without knowing exactly what’s in it.”

Another user added that the first package appears to have a handwritten label that says ‘Turkey Salami’, while the second is only listed as ‘Various Meat’.

While other users said that despite the uncertainty of the products’ contents, the low prices mean they would consider eating the mystery meat.

One respondent wrote, “For $1.98 I’m DEVOURING it.”

“Is it sad that with the current food prices I can buy that?” added another.

Another commenter wrote: ‘I got 5 pounds of whole breaded chicken strips for $10 labeled as variety meat.’

The ‘Mystery Meat’ phenomenon in supermarkets has also been criticised on Reddit, where one user found a similar package of mystery meat selling for $10.05.

Users of the site also expressed their surprise, with one commenting: “He passed up meat and/or poultry.” WHAT MEAT, where is the list of ingredients?
