A woman was caught on video snatching an Apple phone charger from a man on a plane, with commentators claiming she never intended to give it back to him.
The man who owned the charger filmed the encounter as he approached the woman to ask if she had taken it, to which she confirmed that she had.
He responds by asking why she took the charger; the woman tells him to “calm down” and that she took it because “there was no one on the flight.”
Then he says, “You can’t just take things without asking. It doesn’t make any sense.”
“No, she’s trying to act like it’s no big deal because she’s on the wrong side of the argument,” one person said.
Another woman intervened, asking her to sit down to avoid being kicked off the plane.
Another passenger also chimes in, saying, “You’re being ridiculous. She said she was going to give it back.”
To which the man replied: “No, you’re being ridiculous. She stole something without asking.”
She was given the charger back when she pulled it out of her purse and said she was only giving it back because she got caught and “everyone else saw you.”
“They said, ‘Hey, listen, I just wanted to let you know that I’m sitting in front of you to your left, and there’s a girl who got off your flight who stopped by your seat, unplugged your charger, rolled it up and put it in her bag,'” she said.
Many commentators referred to this situation as psychological manipulation, with one saying: “The evidence is in her bag and she is psychologically manipulating him.”
“No, she’s trying to act like it’s no big deal because she’s on the wrong side of the argument,” another said.
Many also believed that the location of the charger proved that the woman had no intention of returning the device to its rightful owner.
“She had it in her purse and wasn’t planning on giving it back,” one user said.
In a second video, uploaded by the same creator, he explains the context and situation in the video of the meeting.
In this he explains that he and his wife were on a flight that was delayed three times and due to the delays, passengers were allowed to get off the flight for a period of time due to the unforeseen length of the delays.
He explains that he left his charger on the flight, as many people left small items, and a few minutes after disembarking, another passenger approached him.
‘(They) said, ‘Hey, listen, I just wanted to let you know that I’m sitting in front of you to your left, and there’s a girl who got off your flight who stopped at your seat, unplugged your charger, rolled it up and put it in her bag,’ she said.
He goes on to address the crowd and says the woman may have been trying to return it, to which he says she could have given it to a flight attendant or been more apologetic when asked to return it.
He also says his attitude when asked to return is the only reason he posted the video and asked viewers to consider that one of the flight attendants offered to call the authorities, which he declined so as not to further delay the flight.
“She wasn’t trying to do a good deed for those of you who think she did it,” he said.
Comments were generally supportive of the man, saying she should not have touched the charger and had no intention of returning it.
Others, however, also said people should hear their point of view before believing only one version of the story.
He added: “It doesn’t matter if you’re on my side or against me. This is what happened, this is the truth.”
