Emilia Pérez premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to great success, including a joint award for best actress for Sofía, Zoe, Karla and her co-star Adriana Paz.
After a limited release in US and Canadian theaters on November 1, the film bowed on Netflix this Wednesday to a warm response from critics.

Inside the magazine, Selena gushed about the “sisterhood” she shares with Zoe and Karla, which “ended up becoming what got us through” the filmmaking process.

On the cover, Selena was dressed in a Sean McGirr McQueen blouse and jacket and Falke tights, while Zoe and Karla were photographed in Ralph Lauren.
Selena confessed in their joint interview that Emilia Pérez’s script ‘was one of those things that you read and thought, how the hell could this be done?’ It’s too crazy. It could be done in a bad way, but at the same time it was very exciting.”
Meanwhile, Zoe was candid about the change it was for her to act in a project that featured her as one of three female leads.
“I remember when I was very young, being the only woman in the entire cast gave me power. But after doing too many of those projects, it’s a lonely place to be the only woman,” the Avatar actress shared.
He also expressed his admiration for Selena, saying, “I would look at Selena and just hear her speak and see her command a room with such humility.” There is a timeless essence about her that makes me feel like I will always accept any advice or guidance that comes from this young woman who is a boss.”
Karla, originally from Spain, admitted that working with two A-list American celebrities “was a little complicated for me, at first. “I really had to get rid of that fandom that anyone would have when working with two Hollywood stars.”
She admitted: ‘It took me a bit of effort. And I think at times it might have put our relationship at risk, but I wanted to make sure that they felt like a family, that there was nothing to interfere with our work.’
Selena heaped praise on Karla, saying, “I’ve never felt so artistically challenged.” He has this strength in his performance and his dedication. It would just blow my mind and I would feel a little intimidated.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Selena also gushed about Meryl Streep, who recently appeared in the pop star’s hit Hulu comedy Only Murders In The Building.
“I remember being on set with Meryl Streep, trying to photograph her side so she could go home and have the next day off,” the singer recalled.
‘Towards the end of the day, she said, “Wait, no, why don’t we turn around?” And they said, “Oh, we’ll do that tomorrow.” And she says, “No, no, I should come in, I should be here for them.”
The Come And Get It singer praised: “It was so elegant and showed that she still loved the craft and wanted to be there for us too.” I will never forget her barefoot, singing on set and loving what she did. “I want that spirit, I want to always love what I do and be there for people.”
