The 27-year-old man was booked into jail and a mugshot was released through the Louisville Department of Corrections, before being released later Friday morning. He reportedly faces the following charges, according to Wave3:

After a fatal accident on the outskirts of Valhalla early in the morning, Scheffler allegedly attempted to avoid what he believed to be security personnel with his vehicle. In fact, it was the police who told him to stop.

When he didn’t, ESPN claims one officer even tried to hold on to Scheffler’s car as he drove another 10 meters before stopping.

The officer in question is then said to have grabbed his car and attempted to pull him out before he opened the door. They eventually pulled the golf star out of the vehicle, pushed her against it and handcuffed her.

Remarkable footage that has gone viral on social media shows Scheffler being led to the police car after the Friday morning misunderstanding.

As the golfer was being led away, ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, who filmed the incident, attempted to get the officers’ attention. They warned him: ‘Back off or you’ll go to jail too!’

“He’s going to jail right now,” another officer said. ‘He’s going to jail and there’s nothing you can do about it. Period.’

‘Could you help me?’ In the stunning clip, a panicked Scheffler could be heard asking a nearby journalist.

The incident occurred after the second round of the PGA Championship was delayed on Friday due to a fatal accident near the club.

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a bus outside the golf course. Scheffler was not involved in the accident, but was stuck in a huge traffic jam around Valhalla.

ESPN claims an unidentified man was attempting to cross Shelbyville Road at approximately 5 a.m. when he was struck in a bus lane, before being pronounced dead at the scene.
