Scottie Scheffler broke his silence following his shocking arrest at Valhalla Golf Club on Friday morning.

In a shocking series of events, Scheffler was seen being led to a police car in handcuffs after attempting to enter the club before his second round at the PGA Championship.

The 27-year-old man was booked into jail and a mugshot was released through the Louisville Department of Corrections, before returning to Valhalla later Friday morning ahead of his second round after being released. He reportedly faces four criminal charges, including second-degree assault on a police officer.

“This morning I proceeded as directed by police officers,” Scheffler said in a statement after returning to Valhalla in time for his second round.

‘It was a very chaotic situation, understandably given the tragic accident that had happened earlier, and there was a huge misunderstanding about what I thought I was being asked to do.

‘I never intended to ignore any instructions. I’m hoping to put this aside and focus on golf today.

“Of course, all of us involved in the tournament express our deepest condolences to the family of the man who died in the accident this morning. It really puts everything into perspective.”

After a fatal accident on the outskirts of Valhalla early in the morning, Scheffler allegedly attempted to avoid what he believed to be security personnel with his vehicle. In fact, it was the police who told him to stop.

When he didn’t, ESPN claims one officer even tried to hold on to Scheffler’s car as he drove another 10 meters before stopping.

The officer in question is then said to have grabbed his car and attempted to pull him out before he opened the door. They eventually pulled the golf star out of the vehicle, pushed her against it and handcuffed her.

Remarkable footage that has gone viral on social media shows Scheffler being led to the police car after the Friday morning misunderstanding.

As the golfer was being led away, ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, who filmed the incident, attempted to get the officers’ attention. They warned him: ‘Back off or you’ll go to jail too!’

“He’s going to jail right now,” another officer said. ‘He’s going to jail and there’s nothing you can do about it. Period.’

Scheffler was due to tee off for his second round at 8:48 ET alongside Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman. That has now been pushed back to 8/10 after he returned to Valhalla around 9:15am ET following his release.
