A British Challenger-2 tank involved in Ukraine’s Kursk raid has been “destroyed,” pro-Putin war journalists claim.
A video has emerged from the battlefield showing an armoured vehicle being destroyed by a drone.
This comes after sources suggested today that British Challenger 2 tanks are being used by Ukrainian troops in their offensive inside Russia, although this has not been confirmed by the Ministry of Defence.
The footage, which was shared on social media app Telegram, shows a massive explosion on the battlefield as the tank, reportedly deployed by Ukraine’s 82nd Brigade, blew up.
It was shot down by a low-flying Russian Lancet-3 kamikaze drone near Sudzha in Russian territory occupied by Ukraine, according to the Svarshchiki (or Welders) Telegram channel.

“Our technically skilled operator launched Lancet-3 into the upper hemisphere by dipping the upper hull armour plate,” the channel said.
Another channel, Operatsia Z – Voenkory Russkoy Vesny, reported: ‘After a precision strike, the British tank’s ammunition detonated, completely destroying it…
‘This is the first time that the Challenger 2 in service with the AFU has been destroyed by a UAV on our front.
‘The power of The Lancet has been demonstrated and the enemy has suffered serious losses.’
Telegram channel Voenniy Osvedomitel added: ‘One can notice the characteristic detonation of the propellant charges, which in the Challenger, unlike other modern tanks of the Western tank design school, are located openly on the floor of the fighting compartment.’
There has been no independent confirmation of Russian claims about the destruction of the alleged Challenger-2 tank.
Moreover, it would not be the first time that a tank of this type has been destroyed in the conflict.
In September last year, images emerged showing the burning remains of a British Challenger 2 tank after it was attacked by Russian forces in Ukraine.
The image shows the drone targeting the tank said to be a British Challenger 2.

The military vehicle was destroyed near Robotyne, Zaporizhia Oblast, in what was also the first verified sighting of one of the British-supplied tanks on the front line in Ukraine.
It is believed to be one of the former main battle tanks of the 82nd Air Assault Brigade, which has played a key role in the counter-offensive in the south since last August.
Separate newly released footage shows a Russian fighter jet nicknamed the Terminator appearing to headbutt or punch a kamikaze drone that was following it.

“In the Special Military Operation zone, he headbutted a Ukrainian drone and emerged unharmed,” Ridus News reported, calling him “the Russian Terminator.”
Russian war reporter Alexander Kots said the FPV controller had “mockingly” flown the drone close to the fighter before swooping in for the kill.

The videos come as Ukrainian forces continue a cross-border offensive they launched on August 6.

Since then, the Ukrainians have managed to advance up to 20 miles in some directions and have captured dozens of towns and settlements.
More than 120,000 Russian citizens have been forced to flee their homes amid widespread regional evacuations since last Tuesday, while 12 civilians are said to have been killed.
