Rory McIlroy angrily threw his 3-wood golf club into the water in disgust as he let his frustrations boil over after a tough day on the green.
The Northern Irishman has been far from his best this week in Colorado at the BWM Championship, and he exploded in frustration after hitting a tee shot wide on the 17th hole.
Not content with the swing from the start, McIlroy continued to follow through on his shot, only to see it veer to the right and into the rough.
Unable to maintain his composure, the 35-year-old lost his cool for a minute, throwing his golf club into the body of water right in front of him, prompting a shocked silence in the crowd and a splash into the water.
The four-time major champion, though still visibly upset, walked dejectedly to the water’s edge to pick up his golf club.

For a brief moment it looked like things were going from bad to worse, as as he returned to pick up his driver, he nearly fell.
But fortunately he recovered in time to hand the recovered golf club to his caddie before heading off to play his shot in the rough.
McIlroy has had a disappointing showing this week, as before his wide shot on the 17th hole he bogeyed his par-3 which dropped him back to 1 under par after the 16th hole.
However, the Co. Down man managed to recover slightly and made par on the 17th and 18th to record a 71.
The Northern Irishman now sits 10 shots behind leader Adam Scott of Australia and has a lot of work to do today if he is to regain victory.
The four-time major champion angrily picked up his club from the water before storming off.
This summer has been a tough one for McIlroy as he came surprisingly close to winning his fifth major but finished second to Bryson DeChambeau at the US Open.
After missing two putts in the closing stages of the competition that gave DeChambeau the title.
McIlroy then failed to make the final cut at The Open, before managing to finish outside the medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, placing fifth.
