Rishi Sunak’s nephew became one of the world’s youngest multi-millionaires at just four months old.
The toddler received an astonishing £22 million worth of shares from his grandfather NR Narayana Murthy, who is Mr Sunak’s father-in-law, in his lucrative IT business.
Born in November 2023, baby Ekagrah is the son of Mr Murthy’s son Rohan and his wife Aparna Krishnan, who now joins an exclusive list of multi-millionaire infants.
Ekagrah, which means unwavering focus and determination in Sanskrit, is Murthy’s third grandchild. Their daughter Akshata married Mr Sunak in 2009 and has two children with him, Krishna and Anoushka.
It is unclear whether Mr Sunak’s two daughters also received millions of pounds worth of shares from their wealthy grandfather in his IT company Infosys, which is worth almost £80 billion.

But their mother Akshata has already benefited from Mr Murthy’s generosity as the owner of just over 1 per cent of Infosys shares, worth around £500m, which has given her worth £13.5 million in dividends last year.
His younger brother Rohan owns more than £600 million worth of shares in Infosys while his mother Sudha is also a major shareholder, making the Murthys one of India’s richest and most powerful families.
News of the lavish gift given to the baby will reinforce claims that Mr Sunak is out of touch with ordinary people because of his family’s wealth and personal wealth. In addition to the wealth enjoyed by his in-laws, he is also a multi-millionaire after a successful career in finance before entering politics.
The couple also own four homes in the UK and California, worth an estimated £15million, including a listed 19th-century mansion in North Yorkshire and a seaside penthouse in Santa Monica.
But despite Mr Murthy’s extraordinary gift to his grandson, Ekagrah is not the only youngster to have benefited from the largesse of wealthy parents.
Last year, multi-millionaire Barrie Drewitt-Barlow revealed he had given
his two-day-old granddaughter Marina, a posh £1 million house and a £5 million trust fund.

His first mansion was bought for him when he was just six years old by his father, who insisted that “he deserved it.”
Ironically, Mr Murthy’s decision to secure his grandson’s life before he can even walk or talk comes just months after sparking outrage in India when he said young people should work 70 hours per week to increase their productivity.
He said in a YouTube interview that India needs young people who are “very determined, extremely disciplined and extremely hard-working.”
Mr. Murthy, 77, fumes: “We need to be disciplined and improve the productivity of our work. I think if we don’t do this, what can the poor government do? And any government is only as good as the culture of its people. And our culture must evolve to become one of highly determined, extremely disciplined, extremely hardworking people.
Mr Murthy co-founded Infosys in 1981 with just £200 and has since become one of the world’s leading IT companies while giving him a net worth of almost £4 billion.
Ekagrah’s father Rohan holds a doctorate in computer science from Harvard University and runs Soroco, an American company specializing in AI.
He married Aparna in Bangalore, where the Murthy family lives in December 2019 after initially meeting through mutual friends.
