Riley Gaines called out Angel Reese for her “nasty” social media post about Caitlin Clark and claimed the Chicago Sky rookie is jealous of her former college rival.
Reese appeared to criticize Clark, who is 0-5 in the WNBA with the Indiana Fever, in a quickly deleted tweet after Chicago beat the New York Liberty 90-81 on Thursday night.
Wednesday night’s loss to the Seattle Storm continued the Fever star’s torrid start to life in the big leagues, but it’s been quite the opposite for Reese.
The former LSU college sensation, on the other hand, helped the Sky win two of their first three outings of the season, scoring 35 points in the process.
‘And that’s about making a WIN in a crowded area, not just because of one player on our charter flight. #SKYTOWN,” Reese wrote in a now-deleted comment about Clark.

Reese appeared to take aim at his former college rival with this post before quickly deleting it.
Despite deleting it, Gaines believes Reese’s post is a sign of his “jealousy and insecurity” towards the number one draft pick, attacking the Sky forward for his “baseless” comment.
The swimmer said on X: ‘It’s incredibly disheartening to see Angel Reese attack Caitlin Clark like this. Simply unfounded and unpleasant.
“The tweet screams jealousy and insecurity.”
Clark is credited with increasing interest in the WNBA after being picked first by Indiana in April’s draft, the same event in which Reese was chosen by Chicago.
The two were also great rivals in college, with Reese playing at LSU while Clark was at Iowa.
Reese and his Sky team did not have charter flights at the beginning of the season, but Clark and Iowa did.
In addition to Reese, Gaines also took aim at The View co-host Sunny Hostin for her recent controversial comments about Clark.
On Wednesday’s edition of the ABC talk show, Hostin expressed his opinion about the “privilege” he believes has contributed to Clark’s growing popularity.
“I think there’s something called beautiful privilege,” he said. ‘There is a thing called white privilege. There is something called great privilege and we have to recognize it.’
Gaines believes the now-deleted post was a sign of Reese’s “jealousy and insecurity.”
Clark had a nightmare start with the Indiana Fever after losing their first five games.
Meanwhile, Reese helped the Chicago Sky win two of their first three outings.
Gaines also took aim at Sunny Hostin (pictured) for her controversial portrayal of Clark.
“And part of it has to do with race because if you think about the Brittney Griners of the world, why did she have to go play in Russia? Because they wouldn’t pay her,” she said of the WNBA.
Gaines followed up on the criticism of Reese, concluding in her post: “Although Caitlin Clark probably deserved this given that she has the privilege of being white, straight, pretty and tall.” Right, @sunny?’
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy also criticized Hostin for her comments about “privilege,” even calling her a “racist.”
