  • Australian cycling clothing is causing all kinds of controversy
  • The outfits are being criticized for being unflattering.

While Australia has enjoyed huge success at the Paris Paralympics, the kit worn by the cycling team has come under fire on social media for its poor design.

Amanda Reid continued Australia’s fine form on the velodrome, defending her Paralympic gold medal in the C1-3 500m time trial in style on Sunday.

Reid’s top spot added to the two golds won by Korey Boddington and Emily Petricola at the Velodrome National in Paris 24 hours earlier, but many fans watching from home couldn’t help but comment on the Australian athletes’ questionable attire.

“This looks like an unfinished infographic about female anatomy,” one Reddit user posted.

“I’m giving the pole vaulter a run for his money,” said another.

“An intern would have done a better job,” a third responded.

A fourth posted a photo of controversial Olympic breakdancing athlete Rachael Gunn and wrote: “The same people who sent this lady to wear this outfit.”

Another Reddit user suggested that the designers of the unflattering outfits must know what they were doing.

One fan described the kit as an “unfinished infographic on female anatomy.”

“Light colors attract the eye, anyone who is even remotely familiar with color theory knows that. Whoever designed this knew exactly what they were doing,” they posted.

Another user replied: “That may all be true, but it still screams ‘let’s see how much I can embarrass our athletes.’”

The brutal takedown of the Australian uniforms comes after Matildas teammates Mackenzie Arnold and Alanna Kennedy revealed how unimpressed they were with their Olympic outfits.

The couple uploaded a video of themselves awkwardly posing while wearing green and gold pleated skirts with green and gold tops, and countless fans posted comments ridiculing the designs.

Australian AFL star Daniel Gorringe has also criticised the Australian kit worn at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics last month.

“Australia also missed the news that the Olympics would become fashion week,” Gorringe said.

‘Because Mongolia looks amazing, this is Haiti and again they look fantastic… a fashion statement.

“Taiwan, no problem. Look at them, they don’t care about the Olympics, but they look good because they have become fashion icons.”

The Australian outfit is shown with Gorringe looking at the image in shock.

“Did we miss the memo or what the hell is this at a private school?” Gorringe asks.

‘Thank God there are no medals for best dressed because we wouldn’t even touch a bronze medal, let alone a gold or silver one.

“Do we have netball at 11 and then debate at 1?”
