If you’re interested in savoring Olly Murs’ greatest hits, you’d better do it outside the boxing ring.
The singer-songwriter, 40, has taken up the sport and shares his pride in having learned the trade from scratch.
He has trained with veteran boxing trainer Dave Coldwell, who revealed his surprise at the star’s power and skill during a four-day training period.
Murs quickly joined Coldwell’s gym in Rotherham to maintain his sharp physique while he was in Sheffield and Leeds attending Take That support shows.
“We had a fantastic few days in the gym with Olly,” said Dave. “He knows how to sing, dance, work on television and play football, and it turns out that he also knows how to box a little… he makes you sick!”

Olly, who is married to bodybuilder Amelia, 31, took to Instagram in April to talk about his boxing journey.
He wrote: “I don’t normally post anything boxing related, but after 18 months doing it and learning the basics, I actually watched a video (of himself training) and for the first time I liked what I saw.”
‘It’s been hard work! Fuck it, I’ll post it! Learning to box from scratch is hard work.
“I’ve been consistent and Amelia will tell everyone, ‘I’m one of those guys now,’ everywhere I go I shadow box trying to get better!”
Olly gave a ‘big thank you’ to his friend, Commonwealth Super Welterweight Champion Sam Gilley, RJ’s Boxing Gym and former Team GB boxer Harvey Horn for helping him on his journey.
