Nicole Kidman has admitted that she was so “excited” by her role as Babygirl that at one point she had to pause filming.
The 57-year-old actress stars in the upcoming erotic film alongside The Iron Claw star Harris Dickinson, 28.
“There were times when we were filming where I thought, ‘I don’t want to have an orgasm anymore.’
‘Don’t come near me. I hate doing this. I don’t care if they never touch me again in my life! I’m over it.
“He was so present the whole time for me that it was almost like a burnout.”
Babygirl hits theaters on Christmas Day in the US and January 10 in the UK.
The film follows powerful CEO Romy (Kidman) who puts her career and life’s work in jeopardy when she begins an intense affair with her young intern Samuel (Dickinson).
Director Halina Reijn was inspired by Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas’ sexual thriller Basic Instinct and hearing about a woman who had never experienced sexual pleasure during her 25 years of marriage.
Nicole said she was drawn to the project because it was “an area she had never been in” in her career.
She explained: ‘I’ve always been on a quest as an actress, I’m always going, where haven’t I been? And what can I explore as a human being? And this was an area I had never been to.
The Hollywood star has already received critical praise for what is considered her most daring performance to date following the film’s premiere at the Venice Film Festival in August, where she received the Best Actress award.
The cast met with an intimacy coordinator for the racy scenes and Nicole believes she was able to play the racy moments because Halina was a director.
She said: “It’s the story that I wanted to be a part of, that I wanted to tell, and every part of me was committed to it.” All of us took great care.
“We were all very, very kind to each other and helped each other: Harris, Antonio.”

Regarding taking on the project, he said: “Unfortunately, when you have a family at home and everything, there has to be some kind of agreement on where you go. “Now I’m going to address this and ask for your permission to let me go.”
‘So there is a release of you into your artistic life and then you return to your home and your real life. But a certain kind of abandonment is necessary.
The trailer shows how the relationship develops, from the moment they look into each other’s eyes to their various encounters, showing how Nicole’s character becomes increasingly “liberated” by passionate relationships.
The trailer begins when Romy first sees Samuel on the street, after he calms down a dog that had started running towards her.
Viewers then get a glimpse into Romy’s life balancing her career with her family, from caring for her children to her relationship with her adoring husband Jacob (Antonio Banderas).
‘Don’t you have to be at work yet?’ she asks as her husband plants a kiss on her cheek.
“Being a CEO means being collaborative and protective,” he reflects. “Everyone is waiting for me to give in to the pressure.”
Once at work, she meets the new class of interns, among whom is the young man who helped her with the dog.
The sexual tension is palpable from the beginning, when she asks Samuel how he managed to calm the dog.
During a one-on-one meeting, Samuel interviews Romy about her work and pulls no punches.
‘I see myself as a…’ Romy begins before Samuel interrupts. ‘Power-hungry personality?’ ask.
Stunned, Romy replies, ‘Do you think that’s what I am?’
“I think you like being told what to do,” Samuel replies before apologizing. “That was incredibly inappropriate,” he says.
“His behavior is unacceptable,” says Romy. ‘It is?’ Samuel asks before sharing their first kiss, beginning their adventure.
Samuel says, ‘If we’re going to do this, we need to set some rules that you and I agree on.
‘Starting with I tell you what to do and you do it’.
The trailer offers a look at a series of games during the couple’s amazing adventure, and during a date, Samuel instructs Romy to get on her knees.
‘No! That!?’ she says, before he demands: “Kneel down now” and laughs: “Is that what you want?”
As the adventure continues, Romy tells Samuel: ‘You are very young. I don’t want to hurt you.’
But Samuel reminds him: ‘I believe I have power over you. Because I can make a call and you lose everything. Does that turn you on when I say that?’
Kidman described it as the most “expository” performance she’s ever given, which, considering 1999’s Eyes Wide Shut, is quite a statement.
To his surprise, Samuel appears at his house and is already sitting at the dining table with his family when he enters the room.
“Oh, hello,” he says. “You forgot your laptop at the office.”
It seems that Romy has begun to exude a different energy since the affair that her husband resumed began.
“You seem liberated,” says Romy’s husband.
“I’ve never experienced anything like this,” he whispers, ending the preview on a precarious note.
While interviewing her friend Victoria Beckham in August for Vogue Australia, the Oscar winner shared the best relationship advice she’s ever received.
‘The best advice I was given was that there is the individual, then there is the I and the you, and there is the we. And that’s just you,” he revealed.
The Big Little Lies star continued: “No one else has what you two believe, or what Keith and I believe, no married couple who are a couple, no one who has chosen to be in a relationship together, we created this, so we decided what is this.’
He added: “If you really like the person, you really love them, but you also like them a lot, God, that helps.”
The A Family Affair actress also highlighted the importance of commitment, a good rule to follow in any relationship, whether romantic or platonic.
‘Commit too. A lot. It’s always trial and error, and sometimes it’s out of balance and then it’s back in balance… We don’t gloat about it.
‘People always ask, “What’s your marriage advice?” We don’t have any! Everyone does their own thing and creates it. I’m not a relationship guru. “I’m just trying to find my own way,” he said.
Babygirl will be released on December 25, 2024 in the United States and January 10, 2025 in the United Kingdom.
