Mum-of-two Lauren (pictured with sons Jack and Ollie) swapped today's children's shows for shows from the '90s, including Bear in the Big Blue House. She told FEMAIL that she noticed a change in her little one's behavior.

A mother noticed a change in her children’s behavior after they started watching children’s shows from the 90s.

Lauren, from Northern Virginia, USA, was tired of the shows her two sons, Ollie, three, and Jack, nine months, were watching.

So she started browsing streaming platforms and came across nostalgic shows she used to watch as a child, including Rolie Polie Olie.

‘It brought me straight back to my childhood, so I played it to my little one one day. He loved it so I started researching what other ’90s shows I could find for us to watch,” Lauren, 30, told FEMAIL.

He said older shows had a positive impact on Ollie’s sleep and that he doesn’t fight back when it’s time to turn off the TV.

Shows your kids now watch regularly include Little Bear, Arthur, Franklin, Clifford, Magic School Bus, and more.

‘Before moving on to ’90s shows, my young son had a hard time turning off the TV. We relied a lot on TV time since my youngest son was born with some medical complications,” Lauren said.

“But with so much screen time came a lot of crises and difficult transitions when it was time to move on.

“When we started watching ’90s kids shows, Ollie really enjoyed the show, but when it came time to turn it off and play, he didn’t resist at all!”

Not only that, but he also noticed that shows for older children are less stimulating compared to current television shows and also encourage creativity and imagination.

‘The shows were created to teach children lessons, not just provide them with entertainment. They don’t have all the flashy graphics and high stimulation like today’s kids’ shows,” Lauren said.

‘Today’s shows are so stimulating that they could even be considered “addictive.”

‘Ollie was struggling to wake up in the middle of the night saying he was scared. “I really think he relied on the movies and shows he was watching on TV, which made him wake up scared,” he said.

Since changing channels, almost like flipping the switch back in time, kids now watch 90s shows most of the time.

“Life is about balance and the same goes for our children,” Lauren said.

‘I think I’m a little more partial to 90s series because of the changes I saw with my son, but do we still watch Disney movies and some Ms. Rachel or Bluey movies? Of course! But most of the time we stick to more simplistic children’s shows from the ’90s!’
