A 30-year-old woman, who looks young for her age, admits that her much older husband is often mistaken for her father.
When Kayy Mackenzie, 30, met decorator Davey Mackenzie, 54, in a pub in 2019, the pair instantly clicked, despite their 25-year age gap.
After just two weeks of dating, Kayy and Davey got engaged and tied the knot in December 2021.
But Kayy, a musical theatre performer from Epsom, Surrey, is often mistaken for her husband’s daughter when they go out on dates.
She explained: ‘The restaurant staff see us together and comment on how nice it is to see a father and daughter dining.

Kayy, a musical theatre performer from Epsom, Surrey, said the pair clicked instantly when they met in a pub in 2019.
“They always look so embarrassed when I tell them we’re married.”
The pair first started chatting in the pub when they discovered they had similar “down to earth” attitudes and enjoyed sharing a pint and a dance.
Kayy added: ‘When we first met, he said he noticed me as soon as I walked in the door and thought, ‘That’s the woman I’m going to marry.’
‘We started talking later when I saw him on the dance floor. He was really nice, he seemed really cool and younger than he is.’
Kayy first moved in with Davey just two weeks after they met in 2019.
When the UK imposed a lockdown in an attempt to control the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020, Kayy ended up staying with Davey.
While going through the pandemic together so early in their relationship was “a learning curve” for both, the pair quickly “bonded” and it soon became clear to Kayy that Davey was the one.
When Davey surprised Kayy by getting down on one knee during a day trip to London, she didn’t hesitate to say “yes.”
Although Davey has three children from his previous marriage, all in their twenties, his family has accepted his relationship with Kayy and they all get along well.
Kayy said: “I knew he was my soulmate, so I didn’t see the point in waiting.”

Kayy added: ‘It took a while for her family to accept the idea of the relationship because of the age difference.
“But now there are no problems: when we see each other we get along.”
Kayy explained how, despite being a generation apart, she and Davey complement and learn from each other.
She said: ‘He brings a lot of wisdom from a lot of life experience and I teach him modern things like how to use his phone properly.
‘It has made me a more solid person.
“When I’m upset, instead of keeping quiet or getting angry, he’s taught me to talk to him about it.”
They plan to move soon to “somewhere coastal, near the beach” and would like to have children in the future.
Although Kayy thought Davey was younger than him when they first met (and he thought she was older), the age difference never bothered them.

Kayy explained: ‘I was initially shocked when he said he was almost 50, but I didn’t care at all.
‘I’ve never considered age in relationships, I’ve always wanted a guy older than me so he can take care of me.
“It’s funny that he thought I was older and I thought he was younger. But for us, age doesn’t matter, it’s just a number.”
She added: “Davey had a lovely way about him, he was very loving, caring and accepting from the start, and that was what mattered.”
Davey said: ‘I was first drawn to Kayy when I saw her walk into the room. She looked so beautiful and loving.
“Something about her made me say, ‘Wow, she’s the one.'”
‘We don’t notice the age difference. Love is love, not numbers. We have a very similar attitude, she is mature.
‘At first I was a little embarrassed that people sometimes confused me with my father, but now I don’t mind too much, I find it quite funny.
‘We are very affectionate and we really understand each other like no one ever has.
‘We’re always laughing and joking and we’re always there for each other no matter what.
‘People have tried to attack our relationship in the past, but we have always remained unwavering.
“We are very strong and extremely happy.”
