When Nova Hawthorne and her sugar daddy James first met, he was footing the bills, paying for the extravagant dinners and luxurious weekend getaways.
But the couple flipped the script: the 63-year-old left his prestigious job as a business development consultant and is now Nova’s assistant.
The Australian couple with a 33-year age gap met on a sugar daddy website in 2019 and had a “typical sugar relationship” where James paid all the expenses.
Their bond quickly deepened after the two moved in together when Nova had issues with her landlord.
Now, five years later, the Melbourne couple are still in love and keeping their relationship private.
Friends and family have been supportive despite the age difference, and Nova is in James’ will.
“When I met James, my main income was from dancing in strip clubs, escorting and sugaring,” said Nova, who is an online sex worker.
‘James meticulously planned our dates, which often involved elaborate experiences like dining at restaurants that offered vegan tasting menus complete with paired wines.
Nova Hawthorne and James met in 2019 on a sugar daddy website, but it didn’t take long for their relationship to blossom.

“She also organised luxury weekend getaways with spa treatments included. Our dates always revolved around enjoying each other’s company in an atmosphere of comfort and pleasure, with good food and good wine.”
Nova, 30, told FEMAIL the couple quickly realised they had more than just an “arrangement” after moving in together.
“James kindly told me I could stay until I finished my university degree. Pretty soon, we started to feel like two people who loved each other living together,” she said.
Friends and family have been supportive of their relationship despite the age difference, and Nova is in James’ will.
“When our relationship transitioned from a sugar arrangement to a traditional dating dynamic in 2019, our financial dynamic naturally had to shift,” she added.
Although the “allowance” arrangement ceased, James continued to pay for all of Nova’s expenses, including her phone bill, beauty care, hair appointments, nails, dining out, entertainment and shopping.
“During that time, I continued to work as a dancer at a club, earning my own money, while James made sure all my bills were paid. This new financial dynamic allowed us to support each other in different ways,” she continued.
James financially supported Nova’s business ventures by investing a staggering $400,000 to purchase an investment property for streamers and adult content creators to film there.
Within a couple of years, Nova was earning over $300,000, which meant James could leave his career to join her company.
Now, five years later, the Melbourne couple are still in love and keeping their relationship fairly private.
He is now his “right-hand man” and acts as content editor, commercial liaison, programming assistant, photographer and videographer.
“This change means that not only am I the highest earner, but I am also responsible for paying his salary,” Nova said.
‘This change has brought a new dynamic to our relationship. As roles have been reversed, we have had to explore and redefine the boundaries and expectations of our relationship.
“The most significant change has been in our communication and collaborative relationship. We have had open and honest conversations about our financial roles and how they affect our personal and professional lives.”
