Wisconsin quarterback Tyler Van Dyke was taken to the locker room after being injured against No. 4 Alabama on Saturday.

The Badgers quarterback appeared to injure his knee on the opening drive of the highly anticipated matchup at Wisconsin.

Van Dyke ran on third down and was tackled near the sideline, falling to the turf.

He immediately grabbed his right knee after being injured and was taken to the injury tent at the side of the pitch, before being wheeled off on a cart.

The Miami transfer looked devastated with his head in his hands as the car headed to the locker room. He was ruled out before the start of the second half.

Braedyn Locke, who started three games in place of the injured Tanner Mordecai last season, replaced Van Dyke.

The Badgers ended up taking a 3-0 lead after kicking a field goal on the drive, but Van Dyke’s injury overshadowed the good start. The Crimson Tide eventually took a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Van Dyke’s injury comes just two days after NFL quarterback Tua Tagovailoa left the Miami Dolphins’ Week 2 game after also going down following a hard hit.

Tagovailoa crashed to the turf after a hit from Damar Hamlin during the third quarter of the Miami Dolphins’ loss to the Buffalo Bills and appeared to head straight into the fencing response.

It was the quarterback’s third known concussion of his NFL career, having suffered a history of head injuries dating back to 2022.

However, despite being thrown to the ground, Van Dyke did not appear to have suffered a head injury amid concussion fears currently engulfing the sport.

Van Dyke completed 38 of 63 passes (60.3 percent) for 406 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in Wisconsin’s first two wins over Western Michigan and South Dakota.
