A woman in the crowd at the Democratic National Convention was an unfortunate victim of the cameras after Oprah Winfrey mentioned “women with cats and no children” in her speech Wednesday night.
Winfrey chanted Vice President Kamala Harris’ name and launched a comical attack on a “childless cat lady” after comments Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance made in 2021 resurfaced, telling Tucker Carlson that the United States was run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable with their own lives.”
However, social media noted that one of the feeds showed a woman standing alone in a blue dress in the seating area of the United Center directly after Winfrey mentioned them, before turning around and walking out of the shot.
“I’m screaming at the DNC for cutting off this random woman when Oprah made a ‘woman with cats and no kids’ comment. Taking a cue from Wendy Williams’ cameraman lol,” Buzzfeed’s Spencer Althouse wrote.
Dale Tegman added: “Representation matters – justice for women who own cats and don’t have kids. WE SEE YOU GIRL!”

“She says something like ‘I know you’re not looking at me,'” another user wrote on X in response to the woman’s attempt to walk away from the camera.
Another posted: “OMG I was thinking the same thing. Even the way the poor girl turns around.”
The unfortunate woman has identified with the situation and has been able to see the humor in it.
Teresa S. Woorman, Delegate from Maryland She posted that it was her and made it clear that she found the whole thing funny.
She wrote: ‘Of course this childless cat lady is 100% disgusted by JD Vance in general and 100% supportive of @KamalaHarris and @GovTimWalz! I may also not have kids but I hope that’s not a permanent condition, thanks!’
Woorman responded to Althouse’s clip, writing, “Having a blast at the DNC.”
Vance’s old comment about “childless cat ladies” like Kamala Harris has gone viral again as the couple comes under scrutiny during the 2024 presidential race.
In a 2021 clip, he told former Fox News host Tucker Carlson that the United States was run by “a bunch of childless, cat-loving women who are miserable with their own lives and the choices they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.”
Maryland Delegate Teresa S. Woorman posted that it was her and made it clear that she found the whole thing amusing.
“Look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC: the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children,” continued Donald Trump’s newly announced running mate.
‘What’s the point of us handing over our country to people who have no real interest in it?’
Vance responded to critics of his comments after they made headlines, claiming those who criticized him lied about what he said and even doubled down on what he meant.
“If you look at what the left has done, they’ve taken this wildly out of context and, in fact, aggressively lied about what I’ve said,” Vance told Fox News in late July.
“What I think is true, and this goes to the heart of what I was saying three years ago in those comments, but it’s something I’ll continue to talk about, is that the left has become increasingly explicitly anti-child and anti-family,” he continued.
Host Trey Gowdy pointed out to Vance that there have been plenty of leaders without biological children, from George Washington to former Republican Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
“I think you’ll agree with me that you don’t have to have direct descendants to fully invest in the future of this country,” Gowdy said.
“Absolutely not, Trey. I think being a parent has a profound effect on a person’s outlook and we should honor and respect that,” Vance said.

“But there are a lot of people who don’t have children for a lot of reasons. And they are certainly wonderful people who can participate fully in the life of this country.”
Legendary talk show host and philanthropist Winfrey made this a major part of her surprise appearance at the Democratic National Convention.
Winfrey was a late addition to the agenda, but given her ties to Chicago and her previous support for Democratic presidential candidates of color, her attendance should have been anticipated.
The veteran talk show host walked into the United Center and announced, “Who said you can’t go home again?”
She said she remained a political “independent” but called on independents and undecided voters to support Harris.
“There is no more ridiculous tweets, lies or nonsense,” he said, in comments clearly aimed at Republican candidate former President Donald Trump. “These are complicated times and require adult conversations.”
When he referenced Vance, he was pointing out that “we are not so different from our neighbors.”
“When a house is on fire, we don’t ask about the race or religion of the owner, we don’t ask who their partner is or how they voted, no, we just try to do the best we can to save them,” he said.

“And if it turns out that the place belongs to a lady who has cats and no kids,” Winfrey continued, “well, we’ll try to get that cat out, too,” she said to laughter and applause.
Despite her partisan criticisms, Winfrey told the crowd she still identified as an “independent.”
“Now you have a candidate who says if we go to the polls this time we won’t have to do it anymore,” he said. “We’re looking at a registered independent who is proud to vote again and again because I’m an American and that’s what Americans do.”
“Voting is the best thing about America,” she said. “And I’ve always, ever since I’ve been able to vote, voted based on my values. So that’s what’s needed in this election, now more than ever.”
“That’s why I’m appealing to all independents and all undecided voters,” Winfrey added.
He encouraged them to vote for the Democratic candidate because he represents “decency and respect.”
“But most of all, let’s choose freedom. Why? Because that’s the best thing about America,” Winfrey said. “We are all Americans, and together, let’s choose Kamala Harris,” she said, chanting the Democratic candidate’s name.
