Dancer Miranda Derrick is speaking out about the death threats she received after appearing in the Netflix documentary Dancing With the Devil.

The 27-year-old dancer appeared in the documentary, which premiered on May 29, and responded to claims that she was in a cult, calling the film “one-sided.”

Now she has taken to Instagram once again, although this time she details some of the mistreatment she has received since the film’s debut, including death threats.

She even partly blamed her family, who participated in the documentary, stating that she doesn’t understand why they thought she would help her.

He shared a video with his 1.7 million followers that began: ‘Hey guys. I know I don’t normally make this kind of content, but I just wanted to be transparent and a little vulnerable with you.’

“But before this documentary, my husband and I felt safe,” she said, referring to her husband, choreographer James Derrick.

“Now that this documentary is out, we feel like our lives have been in danger,” he said, detailing the types of danger they’ve both been in.

“We were both followed in our cars, we both received hate mail, death threats, people sent us messages to commit suicide,” he adds, while showing some of the messages on the screen during the video.

And he adds: “They have harassed us.” Someone said, “If I see you on the street, I’ll come and gut you, so you better call security.”

“Someone also said, ‘If I see you on the sidewalk, I’ll come and put you in the trunk of my car,'” he said, adding that these were just “some of the messages I’ve been getting behind the scenes.” ‘

“I honestly don’t understand how my parents and sister thought this documentary would help me or our relationship in any way,” Derrick added.

He added: “I’ve been meeting with my family for the last two years, privately, to work on our relationship, to fix things, to repair what’s broken, and I’ve loved it.”

“I’ve loved getting together, laughing, just enjoying each other’s company, and this documentary has made it very difficult to continue doing that,” he added.

‘Honestly, I think my parents, my sister, have been so focused on this documentary that they have forgotten to work on any relationship with me. And that hurts, it hurts me to say it,’ she admitted.

“I’m going to be completely honest, it’s been hard to post and make my content like nothing happened because that’s not the case,” Derrick added.

“So if things slow down a little bit and I don’t post as much, please be patient, I’m getting over this, I see the light at the end of the tunnel and I’ll get back to posting and dancing and doing what I love,” she said.

“It brings me a lot of joy, so I want to get back to that,” he said, adding that he also wants to thank “everyone who has supported me,” adding the kind words: “don’t go unnoticed.” ‘

Miranda’s sister Melanie Wilking, who Miranda used to dance with as The Wilking Sisters on TikTok, went viral in 2022 when she went on Instagram Live with her parents and said they hadn’t spoken to Miranda in over a year.

Last week, Miranda further confused fans when she attended her sister’s wedding, right after claiming that she was not a victim of a cult.

Melanie also told Access Hollywood that while Miranda claimed it was a “one-sided” documentary, the filmmakers contacted them “many times” and they “refused every time.”
