‘Paint 3D now has a banner stating that it will no longer receive updates or be available in the Microsoft Store as of November 4th,’ they posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The news has not gone down well with fans of the app, with one calling it “the end of an era.”

Now, some users have started seeing a banner inside the app confirming that it will soon be removed.

“It’s a shame, honestly. They could have integrated it into regular Paint,” wrote one user.
Another added: “It’s better than the classic MS Paint and it doesn’t have AI or MS accounts unlike the new Paint. It’s just good and should stay that way.”
And one joked: ‘Paint was going to be replaced by Paint 3D, now Paint 3D will be replaced by Paint lol’.
If you already have Paint 3D installed on your PC, the app will likely continue to work beyond November 4.

The news comes shortly after Microsoft confirmed that Windows 11’s Start menu will soon feature ads.
Microsoft says the ads are intended to allow users to find “some of the great apps that are available.”
In the update notes, the company writes: ‘The Recommended section of the Start menu will display some apps from the Microsoft Store.
‘These apps come from a small group of selected developers.’
