The Chicken Big Mac has finally arrived in the US, but not everyone loves it.
McDonald’s latest offering swaps traditional beef burgers for tempura-battered chicken burgers.
The rest of the beloved recipe, including its iconic sauce, lots of lettuce, and medium bread, is the same.
Americans who discussed the new menu item, from customers on X and Reddit to food experts who reviewed it, gave a mixed verdict.
But one thing most agree on is that both burgers are like giant Chicken McNuggets.
One user joked about X: “You’re telling me they actually called it The Chicken Big Mac when The Big MacChicken was HERE.”

“They’re basically 2 HUGE chicken McNuggets that replace beef burgers,” user My_Goggle wrote on X.
Others made the same observation, but generally gave the new version of the Big Mac a thumbs up.
Timothy Jimothy tweeted: ‘The chicken is basically a large version of their chicken nugget, which has a very mild flavor at that size.
‘The McChicken is an elite menu sandwich that has a pleasant peppery flavor. I can’t understand why they didn’t use them instead.
Another X user wrote: ‘I had a Chicken Big Mac today. Not only is it not a Big Mac, but the two pieces of fried chicken are too breaded.
There are also fans. Alyssa Rose, daughter of Mets announcer Howie Rose, praised declared it “the greatest culinary creation of our lifetime” in X.
And food editor. Taryn Pire wrote in her PureWow review: ‘I feel like the salty pickles and hot sauce shine more with the chicken burgers (which taste like oversized McNuggets, no problem) than with the meat.
“It also feels like a heartier handheld than the original, rather than bread primarily, as the beef patties are quite thin.”
McDonald’s said fans in the United States have been requesting the Chicken Big Mac since it first appeared on McDonald’s menus internationally.
It costs around $5.50, but will be cheaper in some areas and more expensive in others.
Its arrival in the US, after selling on and off in Europe for years, was first rumored in August.

The Chicken Big Mac is the latest new menu item at McDonald’s this year.
In January, the Double Big Mac, which has four beef patties instead of two and extra sauce, returned for a limited time. It costs around $7 and was a hit while it was on sale for a month.
Then in August, the chain announced that an all-new, larger burger called The Big Arch would be coming to the U.S. later this year. He is already in Canada.
It will be the fast food giant’s first permanent new global product since Chicken McNuggets in 1983.
