A major accident has thrown Sydney’s rush hour traffic into chaos.

Two B-double trucks and a car collided today at around 2.30pm on the M4 motorway, near the Prospect motorway off-ramp.

The collision caused the closure of one of three westbound lanes while emergency crews responded to the scene.

Traffic was congested 20 kilometers to the Olympic Park in the west of the city.
