Luis Suarez may be one of Major League Soccer’s biggest stars, and one of the best players of his generation, but he, or any footballer, will never escape the jokes of opposing fans.
It’s one of the reasons soccer can be so much fun, and one Columbus Crew fan followed the script during Monday night’s Leagues Cup clash against Suarez’s star-studded Inter Miami.
The 37-year-old Uruguayan, who made his name at Ajax, Liverpool and Barcelona among others, has long been famous for his teeth, as well as his use of them (see Otman Bakkel, Branislav Ivanovic and Giorgio Chiellini for more).
Against The Crew, he was met with one of the most striking yet best jerseys. It looks more like a WWE crowd than an MLS crowd, but you can’t help but laugh.
Surely even VAR isn’t that strict?
To make matters worse, Suarez and his team, defending champion Miami, fell, blowing a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2.
Maybe the crowd, as well as the absence of Lionel Messi, had something to do with it!
