Stars looking for a strong start after Sunday’s 2024 Logie Awards would do well to stay close to Denise Scott.

Her Mother and Son co-star Matt Okine revealed to Daily Mail Australia that hotel management had to warn the couple, given Denise’s penchant for wild after-parties.

“The hotel actually had to send out a warning,” Matt revealed alongside Denise on the Logies red carpet.

‘They sat us down and said, ‘Look, there’s no kicking in Denise’s room. There have been too many complaints in the past.’

Matt added that it wasn’t just the loud noises and late nights that were worrying management, but also Denise’s tendency to deliberately destroy the hotel property like a 1970s rock star.

“We can’t afford to buy another TV if this one ends up, you know, thrown off this balcony,” Matt said.

-Yes, then we will have to find another place to do it.

However, Denise’s plans for the Logies after-party might have a slightly more romantic bent.

“I guess I’ll go on a date with someone, like I usually do,” Denise joked.

Both Denise and Matt are nominated for awards this year.

Matt is in the running for the Silver Logie Award for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy for his role as Arthur in ABC’s revival of Mother and Son.

Meanwhile, Denise is nominated for the Silver Logie Award for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy for her role as mother and son, Maggie.

The show itself is also nominated for Best Scripted Comedy Program.

TV Tonight reported this week that the comedy series had been renewed for a six-episode second season that is set to begin filming later this year.

The couple told Daily Mail Australia that the season renewal and nominations felt “great.”

“It’s a relief, you know, we’re taking on a very, very important legacy,” Matt said.

“And we know it’s been well received and there’s enough confidence to do it again. We’re going to do it in a big way. We’re looking forward to it.”

The 2024 iteration of Mother and Son is a reboot of the classic ABC series starring Ruth Cracknell and Gary McDonald that aired from 1984 to 1994.

It tells the story of Arthur who, after breaking up with his long-suffering girlfriend, returns home to his widowed mother, Maggie.

Denise recently opened up about her intense 17 months of breast cancer treatment amid her battle against an “aggressive” form of the disease.

The beloved Australian comedian was diagnosed with cancer in early 2023 and revealed the shocking news publicly in August last year.

She has now detailed her “virtually uninterrupted” 17 months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments to combat this “particularly aggressive” form of breast cancer.

“Yesterday was my last day of chemotherapy. I have been receiving treatment for HER2 positive breast cancer virtually non-stop for 17 months,” she shared on Facebook alongside a photo of herself in the hospital.

Denise confirmed that her latest mammogram came back “clean” and thanked her fans for their support amid this difficult time.

“For now, at least, the treatment has done its job,” he wrote.

‘The last mammogram came back fine. I lost all my hair in the first round of chemo, and then I grew these frankly disappointing thin white strands in the second round. It’s a different kind of chemo.
