Team USA will have a legend at the helm after it was announced that LeBron James would be the flag bearer for Friday’s Olympic opening ceremony.
The NBA icon and member of the U.S. men’s basketball team will carry the red, white and blue flag in Paris after being selected to serve as the Americans’ male flag bearer at the opening of the 2024 Olympic Games.
The Lakers legend becomes the third basketball player (and the first male player) to carry the American flag at the start of an Olympic Games. He will join Dawn Staley at the Athens Games in 2004 and Sue Bird at the pandemic-delayed Tokyo 2021 Games.
The female flag bearer has not yet been announced, but is expected to be revealed in the coming days.
