Latrell Mitchell’s professionalism has been called into question after the Rabbitohs fullback was allegedly out until 2am at a Las Vegas club two days before the team’s season opener against the Sea Eagles.

The explosive development will anger many South Sydney fans, who are looking for answers after back-to-back defeats this season.

Mitchell, 26, was already under fire after his expletive-laden post-match interview with Triple M on live radio following the team’s loss to the Broncos on March 14.

He also raised eyebrows after saying he “didn’t care” how much he swore during the controversial interview.

News of Mitchell partying in Sin City 48 hours before a match reportedly infuriated Bunnies club officials – and on Monday night Bulldogs supremo Phil Gould branded the Indigenous star selfish.

Speaking on Channel Nine’s 100% Footy on Monday, footy supremo Phil Gould said Mitchell needed to “respect” the game more.

“I said very early in his career that if you don’t put him in line (now), you’ll never be able to do it…and I think Latrell Mitchell has become bigger than some of the people who are trying to do it. to control it,” Gould told Channel Nine. 100% Football.

“For Latrell, the only advice I would give at the moment is that if he wants to speak out, if he wants to be heard – and he wants to be heard, he demands respect from everyone on all kinds of fronts , he speaks openly on a number of issues, demanding respect – you also need to show respect (yourself).

“I’m not worried about the offensive language… it doesn’t offend me, but in this moment, in this place on this platform, we don’t swear, it’s as simple as that.”

“For him to do this is a complete lack of respect, a lack of respect for his teammates, for the game, for the media… and for the people who were listening to him at home and wanted to see how he felt afterwards this match.”

Gould added that it’s important that Mitchell realizes he’s not bigger than the game – although the fullback said on Instagram on Monday that there was “no intention or malice” following the Brisbane incident and it’s time for everyone to “move on”.

He also escaped NRL sanctions, which was a confusing outcome in the eyes of many commentators and fans.

Mitchell’s teammates have sought to remedy their 0-2 start to the NRL season themselves, creating an internal swearing pot as a light-hearted way of keeping players accountable.

“Trell has a few dollars to invest,” offseason rookie Jack Wighton said Monday.

“Obviously he probably shouldn’t have said it so many times, but it was a slip of the tongue.”

Skipper Cameron Murray has shrugged off the incident at Suncorp Stadium as the Rabbitohs prepare for Friday’s grudge match against the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium.

“I didn’t see much harm in it,” he said.

“I know he’s a passionate man and I know all he wants is to win.

“What we do really well at this club is allow people to be themselves… (but) I know if he had his time again he would probably be a little more selective about who words he chose.”
