Knives Out 3 shared a title and release date on Friday.

Director Rian Johnson has confirmed that the name of the third installment of the hit detective franchise will be titled Wake Up Dead Man.

And the release date of the long-awaited movie about who done it is in 2025.

The announcement was made by X with the voice of star Daniel Craig.

“At first the knives came out. Then, lo and behold, the glass shattered. But my most dangerous case yet is about to be revealed,” Daniel Craig said in the 45-second video.

He was referencing the first two titles in the murder mystery franchise, 2019’s ‘Knives Out’ and 2022’s Glass Onion.

Rian also wrote on Friday: “I love everything about crime novels, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is.

“There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and exploring that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc films.

“We’re about to start production on the third one and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s headed.”

In October, Johnson announced that the third Knives Out movie “is on the way.”

The director said he has most of the key details of the film in mind, which he can now work on again after the Hollywood writers’ strike ended.

Rian told The Wrap: ‘It’s moving forward. Obviously I couldn’t work during the strike, and now that it’s over, I’m diving full force, and so it goes.

‘I have the premise, I have the setting, I have the movie in my head. It’s just a matter of writing the damn thing.

Netflix bought the rights to the second and third Knives Out movies in a $450 million deal in 2021, but Johnson previously suggested even more movies could be made.

Speaking to Total Film magazine, the Star Wars: The Last Jedi director said: “As long as we’re both still having fun and we can continue to create these truly new experiences every time and find new ways to challenge ourselves.

‘The moment we feel like we are repeating ourselves or just turning the crank of a machine, we will stop. Because for me, the whole conception of this whole series is the same as Agatha Christie did with her books: every time we do something new and surprising.’

Johnson previously explained that the third film will be “very, very different” from the 2022 sequel Glass Onion.

The filmmaker said: “I have a big cloud of ideas, but I haven’t focused on them all yet.” It’s exciting, though, and very, very different from this one. That’s what excites me.”
