Missouri high school student Kaylee Gain was suspended from school for fighting just a day before she was brutally beaten by another teen in a filmed fight that went viral.

Gain, 16, was left in a coma for two weeks after the beating near Hazelwood East High School in St. Louis, in which a teenage girl repeatedly hit her head on concrete.

The day before the March 18 fight, Gain was suspended from school for fighting with another girl, who was friends with the teen now accused in the incident, as reported by The New York Post.

Gain and the girl, who remains in a juvenile detention center, were apparently members of warring friend groups at their high school.

The accused girl’s family previously told DailyMail.com that she is the real victim who was “harassed and intimidated” before the viral incident and responded to calls to charge the 15-year-old girl as an adult.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, the arrested girl’s aunt confirmed that she was an honor roll student at Hazelwood East High School with an exemplary record and that she was “defending herself” during the fight with Kaylee.

The family has created a petition on Change.org, asking the St. Louis Juvenile Court to show “compassion” toward the schoolgirl, DailyMail.com can reveal.

Her aunt said Kaylee was not being bullied by her niece and urged people to donate to help with her legal bills as the situation was not exactly what it seemed.

“If people want to donate, they should do it through CashApp, not through the petition,” he added.

‘We created a GoFundMe but they closed it within hours, we have a lawyer. “The family is all together and we will get through this.”

The fundraiser, which was taken down by GoFundMe, said the teen was “unfairly” portrayed as a bully and that she is the victim “in a complicated situation.”

It raised almost $3,000 before being withdrawn.

The page was created on March 16, asking for help with his legal defense, as his family claims they have been subjected to “racist death threats.”

Kaylee’s family says they want “justice through the legal system,” but pleaded with other teens not to retaliate against her alleged attacker.

A viral video shows another teen repeatedly slamming Gain’s head into the pavement before the victim appears to suffer a seizure.

But the funds will now be returned to those who donated, and GoFundMe officials confirmed they removed the webpage hours after it was created.

In a statement to DailyMail.com, a GoFundMe spokeswoman said: “I can confirm that the fundraiser has been removed and all donors have been refunded.”

“GoFundMe’s Terms of Service explicitly prohibit fundraising for the legal defense of an alleged violent crime.”

But the girl’s family says she “deserves amnesty and a chance at forgiveness,” adding that her “fair trial hearing is being influenced.”

The unnamed girl has been charged with felony assault and is being held in St Louis Family Court, with a hearing expected in early April.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey warned that the sickening attack on high school student Kaylee Gain was the result of “radical” DEI policies and a soft approach to justice.

The Change.org petition asks the St. Louis Juvenile Court to show “compassion” toward the schoolgirl, DailyMail.com can reveal.

So far, more than 470 people have signed the statement, which states that the incident “was used to define her character and incite racial divisions and political conflict, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office asked the courts to charge her as an adult.”

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey previously warned that the brutality was the result of an obsession with woke DEI policies and the soft approach to justice under former St. Louis District Attorney Kim Gardner and the current Rep. Cori Bush, a hardline progressive Democrat.

He also called for the girl to be charged as an adult if Kaylee does not survive the attack, something her attacker’s supporters have attacked.

Gain’s family says they want “justice through the legal system,” but pleaded with other teens not to retaliate against their alleged attacker.

They confirmed that Kaylee suffered “a skull fracture that caused brain bleeding and swelling” and that she still has not regained consciousness 10 days later.

“While the family would like to eventually see justice served through the legal system, their attention at this time is dedicated solely to Kaylee’s recovery,” her family said in a statement through their attorney.

‘The family is also asking all members of the wider community to come together to report teenage violence and bullying as there have been too many recent examples of teenage violence resulting in significant injuries and even deaths in some cases.

A petition has been created on Change.org to support the teenager, calling on the St. Louis Juvenile Court to show “compassion” towards the schoolgirl, DailyMail.com can reveal.

‘Kaylee’s parents would like to make a special request to their fellow parents in the community, asking them to reinforce to their children that physical violence and bullying are never appropriate, and to emphasize to their children that the lives of both the perpetrators of the Victims of violence can be permanently and forever changed as a result of violent incidents that last only a few minutes.

“Lastly, the family would like to emphasize that they do not want any type of retaliation against anyone who was directly or indirectly involved in this incident.”

The statement ends by asking for prayers for Kaylee’s “full recovery” and hopes that “teenagers will realize that momentary violent actions can have life-altering consequences” when reading about the highly publicized attack.

Video of the incident circulated on social media showing another girl slamming the teen’s head into the concrete after throwing multiple punches at her, sending her to the ground.

Kaylee appeared to begin having a seizure as groups of other teens fought a few feet away.

Police found the girl suffering from a serious head injury near the intersection of Norgate Drive and Claudine Drive, about a five-minute walk from the high school campus. She was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

After news of the altercation broke, the Hazelwood School District issued a statement condemning the violence within the community.

“It is a tragedy every time children are hurt,” the statement said. ‘Bullying and fighting in the community is a problem that we must all take responsibility for and work to find a solution for the sake of our children.

“The Hazelwood School District offers our deepest condolences to everyone involved and will offer additional emotional support from our support and crisis team to those who need it.”
