‘But I think we’re so used to not necessarily watching it and enjoying it; the instinct, weirdly, is to watch it and criticize it or comment on it in some way.

“It’s funny how much people like labels for women. They really liked them in Lee’s time, and as annoying as it is, they still do. We put labels on women that we don’t put on men. I find that absolutely bizarre.”

Kate added that she believes women should have a conversation about the labels they are given based on their body shape.

She said, “Life is too short, you know that? I don’t want to look back and say, ‘Why did I worry about that?’ And then guess what? I don’t worry anymore. I don’t care.”

“I’m just going to live my life, enjoy it, move on. You only have one chance – you have to make the most of it.”

She said: ‘As women, we try to keep up with our lives and get frustrated if we don’t manage to get some exercise or walk the dog for two hours or be present at all the sports games of the day, or drop off and pick up the kids from school.

“I’m taking it easy, knowing that I just can’t accomplish all those things; that’s becoming more and more important to me.”

And Kate has been living true to her philosophy and put on a glamorous display when she attended the London premiere of her new war film Lee at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in early September.

The star turned heads in a plunging black and gold gown as she dazzled while promoting the new film.

The cleavage-baring dress featured pretty short sleeves and sparkly detailing, and flaunted her gorgeous curves.
