Rodgers reveals in upcoming biography why he addressed rumors about his sexuality

More than a decade ago, Aaron Rodgers was forced to address his sexuality during a live radio interview, stating that he was not gay.

Rodgers has now spoken out about addressing those rumors, though little has been said about them in his 11 years in charge.

These revelations appear in his upcoming biography, ‘Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers.’

Rodgers mentioned in the interview 11 years ago that “every now and then crazy rumors come out that turn out to be silly.”

After speaking to radio host Jason Wilde, Rodgers continued: “Yeah, I’ll just say I’m not gay. I just really like women.”

“I think I was upset by the way it was framed because it was meant to shame the idea of being gay, and I have a lot of friends who are gay in the community,” Rodgers said in the book.

“And just before that,[Wilde]and I had talked about this a number of times, and I said, ‘I want to go after them, the people who say this,'” Rodgers continued. “Not in relation to me, because I don’t give a fuck what they think of me, but because they’re using this to shame, as if being gay is a bad thing. As if it’s a negative thing.”

“That’s what I wanted to achieve. And (Wilde) said to me, ‘You should just let it go and say no. ‘ I wish I would have done the former because that’s how I really felt,” Rodgers added. “I said, ‘Say what you want about me, but do you understand that these people are using this to shame the idea of being gay? ‘”

“That’s disrespectful to all of my friends who are in the community who don’t believe it’s a choice,” Rodgers said. “They made it seem like they were shaming people for being gay, when a lot of them, if you ask them, didn’t ask for this life. ‘This is who I am.’ So I wish I could have handled it that way, and I don’t blame Jason. We’ve talked about it.”

Rodgers used to have a weekly segment as a member of the Packers on Wilde’s radio show on Tuesdays, and Rodgers would mention the rumors on his own during the conversation.

Rodgers had high-profile public relationships with Danica Patrick, Olivia Munn and Shailene Woodley despite the rumors.
