Jamie Carragher was angered by Antony’s antics after putting in a “horrible” performance in Manchester United’s 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

The former Liverpool defender probably enjoyed watching his old rivals humiliated at Selhurst Park on Monday night as goals from Michael Olise, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell inflicted the 13th Premier League defeat of the campaign.

Carragher directed much of his criticism at Casemiro, who had a particularly bad night, while there were also shots fired at coach Erik ten Hag and Brazilian Antony.

The Sky Sports pundit was irritated by images of the winger chatting with teammates Mason Mount and Andre Onana after the final whistle.

‘Just get off the field!’ The former defender shouted. ‘Whispering behind your hand, you’ve been absolutely horrible.

“He’s probably talking about one of the players or someone else, or the setup, or the coach, just get off the field.”

“Shut up and come in. You’ve been beaten 4-0, whispering, talking…honestly, it’s embarrassing.”

Antony has not been able to come close to repaying the £86m spent to sign him from Ajax in 2022.

The 24-year-old has followed a poor debut campaign with an even worse season in which he has registered two goals in 28 league games.

United missed the chance to overtake Chelsea again and as a result find themselves in eighth place with just three games left to play. The Red Devils are in serious danger of missing out on European qualification this season.

As for Palace, they continued their good form under Oliver Glasner, who replaced Roy Hodgson in February. The Eagles extended their unbeaten streak in the league to five games.

They had a lot to thank Olise for, as her brace helped the Eagles secure the points. The sought-after winger had the best of United’s improvised defense, particularly Casemiro.

Carragher told the 32-year-old to “call it a day” and move to Saudi Arabia or the MLS after his woeful performance.

Antony has only scored one goal and one assist in 28 Premier League games this season for United.

“I said at half-time that he (Ten Hag) had to take Casemiro off,” Carragher said. “I know that he has children on the bench, but I think that Casemiro, very serious, should be known tonight as an experienced player and that he only has three more games left at the highest level. The next two league games and the cup final (FA).

‘And he should be thinking, ‘I need to go to MLS or Saudi Arabia.’ I’m very serious. He’s getting older, the people around him need to tell him this has to stop.’
