Lewis Capaldi has reportedly split from girlfriend Ellie MacDowell after two years together, with the singer reportedly back in the studio amid his music hiatus.
A source said Sun that their relationship came to an end because the couple struggled with the distance between them and could not find time to be together.
The source revealed to the publication: ‘Lewis and Ellie had some long conversations and decided it was best for them to end things.
‘It was a mutual decision. They are still friends and have been talking, so all is not lost.
‘Ellie still lives in Edinburgh and Lewis lives in London, so it’s been difficult for them to see each other.’

Returning to the stage, Lewis admitted he had been too scared to perform as he spoke out about his mental health issues and confirmed he would be taking another break away from the spotlight after the show.
In the middle of his performance, Lewis confessed that he was struggling with his Tourette syndrome, as he said his voice had “locked up” after he had been coughing throughout the show.
Tourette syndrome is a neurological disorder characterized by a combination of involuntary noises and movements called tics and can cause speech and voice abnormalities.
Despite his difficulties, Lewis insisted on continuing with his performance and his fans supported him, and the show came to an emotional end when the crowd sang Someone You Love for him.
The touching moment saw Lewis walk across the Pyramid Stage and sing short snippets of the song, as the friendly crowd sang their hearts out in support of the star.

‘I’m so sorry to everyone who had planned to come to a show before the end of the year, but I need to feel good so I can perform at the level you all deserve.
“Playing for you guys every night is everything I’ve ever dreamed of, so this has been the hardest decision of my life. I’ll be back as soon as I can.”
Six months later, on New Year’s Eve, Lewis updated his fans, sharing: ‘I’m really happy to say that I’ve noticed a noticeable improvement in both of them since I decided to take some time off in June.
‘For now I’m going to continue taking some time to continue taking care of myself, maybe writing some music and taking a moment to reflect on some of the most incredible years of my life.
‘I want to be absolutely sure I’m 100% before I get back out there properly for more shows and doing what I love more than anything else.
“These songs mean a lot to me and I would feel terrible if I couldn’t share them. I hope this will tide you all over until we can all get together in a room and sing them together someday very soon.”
Lewis also thanked fans for their support, saying their reaction has been “nothing I’ve ever experienced before and has made me more excited than ever to get back to doing what I love at some point in the not-too-distant future.”
