Shocking footage has captured an unlucky driver caught in three collisions in just five months – but other drivers are blaming the motorist for the series of accidents.

Dashcam footage from several locations around Brisbane in October, December and February showed the driver crashing into three different cars, despite apparently always having the right of way.

In two of the incidents other drivers accelerated in front of them, one from the left of a roundabout and another from a driveway, without yielding.

The driver’s third accident showed a pickup truck sideswiping them, sending half the car flying through the air after a meltdown went horribly wrong.

Some Australians criticized the driver for not driving “defensively” despite having the right of way in each incident, arguing that each collision could have been avoided.

The first incident in October showed the driver going through a roundabout before another driver attempted to enter.

The other driver had to give way, but was thrown forward, causing a collision.

The second accident occurred just two months later, when the driver was traveling on a residential street before crashing into a Holden pulling out of a driveway.

A car parked on the side of the road obstructed both drivers’ views, however the Holden was legally required to give way.

The third and final accident in February occurred after the driver crashed into a ute trying to merge.

Footage of the accidents was shared on Facebook, where some social media users blamed the driver.

“I actually have to laugh at this because all three clips could easily be avoided by braking and driving defensively,” one wrote.

“All three could have easily been avoided, just because you are technically correct doesn’t mean you don’t have a responsibility to prevent the accident,” wrote a second.

Many commentators noted that the first two crashes revealed the driver’s bad habit of honking the horn before applying the brakes.

“If your first reaction is to honk the horn and not hit the brakes, you’re the problem,” one wrote.

“Three clear examples of ‘it makes no sense to be right and be dead,'” added another.

“Just because you have the right of way doesn’t mean you don’t have a responsibility to avoid an accident.”

Despite having the right of way in every collision (pictured, a car jumping in front of them on a roundabout), some said the driver could have avoided them by driving defensively.

Queensland traffic laws would protect the driver from liability, as each of the other drivers involved in the separate collisions had to give way.

The state government’s StreetSmarts campaign also urges drivers to be ‘aware of the environment” and anticipate events “that could become dangerous situations.

“This means learning to be patient, calm and clear-headed, knowing that unexpected things can happen and what to do in those situations to avoid making things worse or having a fall,” the website reads.
