“(Officers’) quick action saved the day, turning a potential tragedy into a hopeful reunion,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said.

“Ah, there it is,” said one of the agents. The officers then waved at him and said “come here, honey” and “come here, honey.”

The agent leading the group extended his arms as he navigated the swampy water to pull the girl out.

“Hello, girl,” the helper said. “Let’s get you out of the water.”

After carrying the five-year-old girl through the woods and back to their vehicles, officers checked for injuries.
