A five-year-old autistic girl was miraculously rescued by Florida deputies using infrared technology after she wandered into swampy woods.
Monday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office aviation unit was called to assist with a missing persons report.
The missing person was a five-year-old girl who had run away from her home in Florida.
Using amazing thermal imaging technology, the aviation unit was able to locate the boy in less than an hour.
Thermal camera footage showed the girl walking through the wooded area, leading officers to her location.

Using amazing thermal imaging technology, the aviation unit was able to locate the boy in less than an hour.
“(Officers’) quick action saved the day, turning a potential tragedy into a hopeful reunion,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said.
“Their dedication shows what service and protection is all about here at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.”
Body camera footage from the rescue shows the touching moment officers finally found the boy.
“Ah, there it is,” said one of the agents. The officers then waved at him and said “come here, honey” and “come here, honey.”
The agent leading the group extended his arms as he navigated the swampy water to pull the girl out.
“Hello, girl,” the helper said. “Let’s get you out of the water.”
After carrying the five-year-old girl through the woods and back to their vehicles, officers checked for injuries.

The girl was found uninjured before being returned to her family.
“We were looking for you, honey,” the agent said at the end of the touching rescue.
