Bernice explained: ‘May and September are great months to travel as they are before and after the peak of summer here in the US.
‘There are fewer people and more affordable prices, but the weather is still pleasant.
“Each country has its specific shoulder season, so I recommend doing a little research before booking.”
He also urged tourists to book their flight as soon as possible because they are much less likely to experience delays.
‘I always take the earliest flight possible so there are fewer delays. If there is any delay, it ends up being a domino effect.
‘Let’s say there’s a delay in California due to weather, then my flight here can’t take off until that flight takes off.
“Everything is filtered, whereas if you fly early your plane will be there the night before.”
Separately, the frequent traveler revealed that Europe is an attractive destination for American travelers in the US, but said people should try to book vacations in “overlooked” places.

She said: ‘Everyone loves going to London, Rome, Paris and Barcelona.
‘I think there are a lot of great places people can go that are overlooked.
‘I’m going to Argentina in a few weeks, for example, I think it’s good to book places that are not so popular with tourists.
“Even people still want to visit Europe, there are many places that are not as popular as Albania and the coastal countries.”
But Bernice’s advice didn’t stop there because, when it came to packing, she recommended that people travel light and only with carry-on luggage.
If that’s not possible, Bernice lives by using compression cubes.
She said: ‘I still have a problem with excess luggage, but I try not to do it as much.
‘What I do recommend is to try to travel with a carry-on, especially in summer.
‘If that’s not possible, I always travel with compression cubes, so you can fit more in your suitcase.
