A 25-year-old woman who claims she was knocked unconscious and bleeding from the mouth after taking a ride at Typhoon Lagoon water park is suing Disney World for more than $50,000.
Laura Reyes-Merino visited the Orlando, Florida, park on May 11 and rode the Humunga Kowabunga attraction, the lawsuit says.
The high-octane rides feature an enclosed body slide that sits at a 60-degree angle and tumble 214 feet downhill into the dark before being splashed with water.
Reyes-Marino alleged in the lawsuit filed in Orange County last week that she lost consciousness after ‘hitting her side’ and that when her fiancee found her she was limp and bleeding from the mouth.
The lawsuit claims the woman’s family frantically asked nearby attendants for help and were told they were not lifeguards and they would have to find them.
Typhoon Lagoon water park is a popular Disney attraction, but the site where Reyes-Merino claims he was left unconscious and bleeding from the mouth.
When they finally located a lifeguard, they were unable to help or touch Merino-Reyes and called an ambulance, according to the lawsuit.
“If the defendant had had lifeguards at the end of the trip to watch and assist guests departing the trip, Plaintiff’s brain injury would not have occurred as she would not have drowned in the water coughing up blood,” according to the lawsuit.
He further claimed that Typhoon Lagoon failed to keep the facilities safe and failed to warn him of the dangers.

Disney faced another lawsuit last year when a woman who went to the park to celebrate her 30th birthday suffered a ‘painful wedgie’ on the same ride as Reyes-Merino.
She filed a lawsuit alleging that the impact of the slide caused her swimsuit to “be painfully forced between her legs and water to violently enter her.” Click Orlando reported.
According to his lawsuit, he went to the hospital and suffered injuries that included severe lacerations, damage to internal organs and a hernia.
