Hayden Panettiere has sparked fears for her health in a “worrying” new video in which fans claim the star is “slurring her words” and can barely keep her eyes open.
The 35-year-old actress, who has publicly battled alcohol and opioid addiction, spoke to People about the death of her brother Jansen, 28, in 2023, from ‘an enlarged heart’ and motherhood of her nine-year-old daughter Kaya.
However, a video in which Hayden spoke about her only son being her “mini-me” quickly left fans concerned and speculating that the star was “clearly not sober.”

In the interview, Hayden became emotional as she spoke about her rapid weight gain following the sudden loss of her brother, admitting that she “lived in sweatpants” and “unflattering” t-shirts because she “hated” her appearance and was terrified of leaving the house.

Jansen passed away in February 2023 and now the Heroes alum, 35, has spoken out about how his shocking death impacted her, explaining that she felt as though she had “lost half of her soul”.
She also revealed that the ‘stress’ of his passing caused her body to ‘inflate’, leaving her in a ‘really bad’ and ‘destructive’ state.
“When my little brother passed away, my body did something I’d never seen it do before,” he said.
“Within a matter of days, I was practically bloated. I know that stress and cortisol coursing through your body can have that effect.”
The star said she “tried everything” to lose weight, but no matter what she did, she couldn’t lose it.
“I tried everything, everything that was unhealthy, everything that was healthy,” she continued. “It didn’t matter what I ate, it didn’t matter what I did.
‘My body was like protecting itself, shielding itself from the world.’
Hayden said she began to feel so self-conscious about her appearance that she developed agoraphobia – a fear of going out.

While reflecting on her brother’s death, Hayden admitted that she still feels like she’ll never be able to “get over his loss.” They are seen in 2013
“I lived in sweatpants and a T-shirt, things that swallowed me up and didn’t suit me,” he recalls.
‘It took me a long time to choose an outfit that I felt comfortable enough to leave the house in and meet up with my friends.
“It became a really destructive hamster wheel, where I was wondering if I felt good enough to go out. I didn’t feel safe enough to go out, but if I don’t go out and move on, I’m never going to stop looking like that.”
As he reflects on his brother’s death, Hayden admitted he still feels like he’ll never be able to “get over his loss.”
“He was my only brother and it was my job to protect him. When I lost him, I felt like I lost half of my soul,” she said, holding back tears.
‘I remember telling someone, “Never, ever expect him to get over his loss.”
Jansen passed away in February 2023 at the age of 28 after friends found him “unconscious” in his apartment in Nyack, New York.
Sources later told DailyMail.com that he had previously battled drug addiction and had gone to rehab a year before his shocking death.
Hayden has spoken openly about his own battles with addiction, previously revealing why When she was 15, someone on her team started giving her “happy pills” to keep her “up during interviews.”
“I had no idea that this wasn’t an appropriate thing to do, or what door it would open for me when it came to my addiction,” she told the outlet.
When he was 16, he was drinking and taking opiates regularly, whenever he wasn’t on set filming Heroes.
“As I got older, drugs and alcohol became something I could barely live without,” she shared, revealing that her addiction worsened while filming Nashville and she suffered from postpartum depression.
When she entered rehab in 2015, she said it was her idea: “I was the one who checked myself into the first treatment center. I was drowning.”
She hit rock bottom after finishing filming Nashville in 2018. She sent Kaya to live with her father, Klitschko, in Ukraine and was eventually hospitalized for jaundice, telling my doctors that her “liver was going to fail.”
Hayden has been open about her own battles with addiction, previously revealing that when she was 15, someone on her team started giving her “happy pills” to keep her “up during interviews”.
By the time she turned 30, this well-known woman found herself in another 12-step program, where participants are encouraged to adopt a life of total abstinence from all mind-altering substances, including alcohol.
In 2022, she spoke publicly about her struggles for the first time: “I thought I had hit rock bottom, but then that trap opened.”
“I was on top of the world and I blew it,” he admitted.
