“They stabbed him in the heart and left him to die,” said Omid Talai, assistant district attorney. “Our victim was stabbed repeatedly, once in the chest, once in the hip and literally once pierced through the heart.”

Nima has pleaded not guilty. He faces a sentence of 26 years to life in prison, if convicted.

Lee’s death, after staggering down a deserted downtown San Francisco street begging for help, shocked the tech community, with fellow executives and engineers writing tributes to the charismatic businessman’s generosity and brilliance.

Attorney Saam Zangeneh told jurors that defense attorneys will show that Nima bore Lee no ill will.

He said injury patterns show Nima was forced to defend himself after Lee pulled a knife from his pocket, high on drugs and having slept only six hours over a four-day period using cocaine and drinking.

Khazar was accused of abusing fentanyl, cocaine and nitrous oxide when she allegedly crashed her $150,000 Mercedes into several parked cars in November, prosecutors revealed in February.

Judge Gail Dekreon ordered him to attend two Narcotics Anonymous sessions a week.
