Gillian Anderson stunned in a tight black dress at the premiere of The Salt Path on Thursday.

The 56-year-old actress stars as Raynor Winn in the new biopic of the long-distance walker and was seen walking the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.

The former X-Files star opted for a strappy, ankle-length sparkly dress and completed the whole look with a matching pair of sandals.

Gillian opted for a natural makeup look and let her tousled blonde locks fall down her back away from her face.

At one point, the actress turned around to show off her incredible figure and looked in good spirits as she looked over her shoulder.

The Crown actress stars alongside Harry Potter actor Jason Isaacs, 61, in the upcoming drama.

They both looked excited as they stood alongside director Marianne Elliott and producer Elizabeth Karlsen.

The film tells the profound true story of Raynor and her husband Moth, who decided to embark on a 630-mile journey along the coast of Cornwall, Devon and Dorset.

The couple sadly became homeless in their fifties after a business deal with a friend went wrong and they lost the Welsh farm where they had raised their two sons.

Her situation worsened when Moth was diagnosed with corticobasal degeneration, a rare and incurable degenerative brain disease.

They decided to hike the Southwest Coast Trail, living with the bare essentials and only a tent for shelter.

The couple soon rediscovered their happiness, while Moth’s condition even improved as they made the challenging journey.

Raynor decided to write an account of her story, which was originally intended solely for her husband, as a birthday present.

Her novel The Salt Path was published in 2018 and quickly shot to the top of the bestseller lists, selling over 1.5 million copies.

It was subsequently shortlisted for the Costa Book Awards and the Wainwright Prize, and won the inaugural RSL Christopher Bland Award.

Writing for The Mail On Sunday earlier this year, Raynor said their trip along The Salt Path had made them feel more connected to nature.

He added: ‘And somehow, without us realising it, the anguish and despair had gone too, left behind on the many headlands we had crossed.
