Gary also revealed that he and Dawn had worked together for years before embarking on a romantic relationship.

When asked how they met, Gary said, “Oh, she was a dancer.” I first met her in 1988, when Virgin hired me to make a really terrible video at the time, which had been filmed all over the country and there were two dancers in it. She was one of them.

And then we only met for a day and never thought about it again. Then I met her over the years, doing Top of the Pops and Royal Variety shows and things like that, and then we did a tour in ’95 where we had like 20 dancers.

He comes after Gary. revealed why his children decided not to follow in his famous footsteps in a rare comment about his family.

talking to The mirrorGary said his children are very different from him and, despite their own success, have shown no interest in show business and have opted for academic careers.

Saying: ‘The oldest two (Daniel and Emily) have gone into medicine and physiology, studying strength and conditioning, and my youngest daughter, Daisy, I’m not quite sure where she’s headed, but again, she’s very studious… unlike my wife and I,” he says.

“I don’t think they would follow in my musical footsteps, but I wouldn’t have put them off, although if they wanted to, it’s been a good deal for me.”

‘Every day I continue to enjoy what I do and when you realize that you are making a living from it, it is a great, great place to be. A lot of roles in ‘show business’ are just wonderful, I think there’s definitely a much more difficult world than the one I’m in.’

The Shine hitmaker previously spoke about how “proud” he was of Emily after she decided to go to university in 2022 for a four-year course.

Initially, the young woman had planned to enter higher education in 2020, but COVID-19 thwarted her plans.

At the time, Gary told Zoe Ball on her BBC radio show: “They’re pretty good, you’re at university.”

‘One is taking a year off, she was supposed to go to university but she doesn’t want to with all this, which I completely understand.

‘Our youngest son is 11 now, which is like… well, they’re not really kids anymore. Although they always are for us.’

‘My wife’s emotions were completely different from mine. I’ve been angry about it for a long time, I still haven’t found peace with it.’
