A Taylor Swift fan has slammed the singer’s support for Kamala Harris on TikTok, saying she refused to be a “childless cat lady like her.”
The video, posted by Joey Salads, showed a former Swift fan burning her Swift merch while announcing: ‘Taylor Swift just endorsed Kamala Harris and I’m done.’
Swift, 34, had decided not to endorse any candidate up to this point in the election, but felt “pressured” to speak out.
Prior to the singer’s announcement, a source told DailyMial.com that the megastar knew she “had to speak out and choose sides for the safety of herself, her family, her friends and her fans” and “found his (Trump) tirade downright terrifying.”
Swift’s statement, which was posted on Instagram, garnered more than 2.8 million likes in less than an hour.
The fan burned her Taylor Swift merchandise, claiming she “doesn’t want to be a childless cat lady like her,” and replaced it with a Donald Trump t-shirt and a MAGA hat.
A source said the singer felt she “had to speak out and choose sides for the safety of herself, her family, her friends and her fans” and found Trump’s “rant downright terrifying.”
‘Finally a young woman is waking up. Taylor Swift has no idea how Americans are struggling’
The fan began the video wearing a Taylor Swift t-shirt and holding Swift’s ‘Speak Now’ vinyl record.
He then threw the vinyl onto a lit barbecue grill, burning the record worth nearly $40, and said, “I don’t want to be a childless cat lady like her.”
The fan grabbed a paperback edition of Swift’s book, Taylor Swift: The Whole Story, ripped it up and threw it on the floor.
“If you really love cats, you wouldn’t let immigrants eat them as pets,” he continued.
She removed Swift’s shirt, revealing a Donald Trump T-shirt that read “You Can’t Kill” beneath a photo of Trump at the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, attempted to assassinate the former president.
The fan burned a nearly $40 record, a T-shirt with the singer printed on the front, and a paperback of Taylor Swift: The Whole Story in support of Donald Trump.
Swift’s shirt was then thrown into the fire, with the fan adding: “This is why I’m replacing all my stuff with stuff that ends consciousness.”
The promotional stunt for Trump’s product website, Ending consciousnessreceived more than 26,000 comments ranging from confusion and outrage to outpourings of support.
One commenter says: ‘Finally a young woman is waking up. Taylor Swift has no idea how Americans are struggling.’
Many comments supporting the young woman’s stance wrote: “You just gained a follower.”
Others were equally supportive, saying, “Of course,” and “Yes, ma’am, we welcome you.”
While other users were less enthusiastic, one of the top comments, which garnered 18,700 likes, read: “I don’t think Taylor is losing any sleep tonight.”
After last night’s debate? Agreed.
