Football great Brendan Fevola has sensationally declared that AFL superstar Dustin Martin will retire from the sport as soon as he reaches the 300-game milestone in his career for Richmond, but will then lace up his boots for the Gold Coast Suns next season.

speaking in Fifi, Fev and Nick from Fox FM On Tuesday morning’s breakfast show, Fevola revealed he has it on good authority that Martin’s tenure at the Tigers, where he won three premierships, is coming to an end much quicker than most expected.

Martin’s manager Ralph Carr is understood to have been buying homes on the Gold Coast for his star client.

A move to the Glitter Strip in 2025 would also see Martin join his previous coach, Damien Hardwick.

‘They (Richmond) want to play him at the MCG (against Hawthorn) for his 300th game. Dusty has been waiting for his 300th game,’ Fevola said.

Fevola also stated that moving to the Gold Coast would make Dustin Martin the “centrepiece of Queensland football”.

“There are a lot of rumors about him and next year, about whether he will retire or play somewhere else.

‘My email is that he will retire after playing his 300th game. He thanks the Richmond fans after his 300th.

Fevola added that Martin “will be paid a lot of money to go to the Gold Coast”, where he will be able to “play as a striker and mentor the playing group”.

The Suns have never played finals football since entering the competition in 2011.

The great Carlton was a fan of the potential move, with Martin, 32, insisting “it would be the centerpiece of Queensland football.

It comes as Martin turned back the clock on May 25 with a brilliant performance against Essendon at the MCG.

While the Bombers ran out 12-point winners, Martin scored three goals and showed his class.

Martin responded to his many criticisms, with veteran football journalist Caroline Wilson recently claiming that the three-time Norm Smith medalist was “limping towards” 300 games, before adding her belief that Dusty’s form this campaign has not justified a contract extension on Punt Rd.

It has been a season to forget for the Tigers and coach Adam Yze, with just one win in 11 games as they battle to avoid the wooden spoon alongside winless North Melbourne.
