Angelina Jolie was spotted in the first trailer for her film Maria. The 49-year-old star plays the famous opera singer Maria Callas.
The clip begins with an older Maria walking onto a stage with a man sitting at a piano. Jolie’s Maria looks out at the empty seats as she recalls her early years.
There is a brief montage in which she is seen younger and more beautiful. She is also seen on a yacht with Aristotle Onassis, her former lover. She is then seen in Paris, crying, having a nervous breakdown in a courtyard and working on her voice.
However, she is not heard singing.
According to a synopsis, the film “follows the Greek-American soprano as she retreats to Paris after a glamorous and tumultuous life in the public eye.” Maria “reimagines the legendary soprano in her final days as the diva comes to grips with her identity and her life.”
He died in Paris in 1977 of a heart attack at the age of 53.
The highly anticipated film will be released in theaters in November and then stream on Netflix in December.

When Callas met Aristotle Onassis, it marked the beginning of a long romance that was the worst kept secret in show business, as both parties were already married.
It’s a big task for the star.
Speaking at a press conference for the film at the Venice Film Festival, she said: ‘I was terribly nervous; I spent almost seven months training.
‘The first time I sang, I remember being really nervous. My kids were there and they helped block the door so no one else could come in, and I was shaking.
‘And (director Pablo Larraín), in his decency, made me start in a small theatre and ended up at La Scala. So he gave me time to grow. I was afraid of being on the same level as (Callas).’
Angelina joked that after making the film, she might even get involved in karaoke nights in the future.
Asked if he had a favorite karaoke song, he joked, “I didn’t sing before this (movie), so I haven’t done karaoke, but now I might have some!”
Jolie revealed earlier this month that she loved singing, but stopped doing so after an ex criticized her for her voice. She did not mention the cruel ex’s name.
Here Maria (Jolie) is seen with Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, who died in 1975.
Jolie is seen breaking down in tears as Maria in the trailer shared Thursday.
The actress, who was previously married to Johnny Lee Miller, Billy Bob Thornton and Brad Pitt, admitted that her role as opera singer Maria in Maria was a challenge because she had to overcome her fears of expressing her voice in public.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “It was an out-of-body experience because I don’t sing. There was someone in my life who was not nice to me when it came to singing. It was a relationship I was in. So I assumed I couldn’t really sing.
“I had gone to drama school, so it was strange to me that it would affect me. I just adapted to that person’s opinion. I had to overcome a lot of things to start singing.”
She told IndieWire last week that I wasn’t very familiar with opera music before I started filming Maria.
The Oscar-winning actress confessed: “I grew up in the United States. In other countries they understand how essential and important it is, and it is much more part of the culture, but not where I grew up (Los Angeles).
‘I had been introduced to (Maria), but it was a total discovery of this new art form, coming and transforming my life and showing me all the different operas.
“I hope that most people, regardless of how they relate to the film, will be encouraged to discover it, to feel it and to try to sing it. If I can do it…”
Angelina recently revealed that she spent ‘months’ preparing to sing in Maria.
The actress told the Telluride Film Festival: ‘I had seven months of opera classes, great teachers and Italian classes, and a support team that was going to help me.

‘When I was younger, there were certain pieces of music and certain sounds that matched what I was feeling: I was falling in love, or I was curious about this, or whatever was going on.
“There’s nothing that matches what you feel like opera,” the film star added.
‘(Some pieces) are so beautiful, so full of hope and so full of longing.
“Opera is bigger. It is bigger than what we allow ourselves to feel at any given moment.”
Angelina, who has Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16, with Brad, recently thanked her children for helping calm her nerves about singing in the film.
