Jefferson Lerma gave Crystal Palace the lead against Chelsea in Monday’s Premier League clash and he did so in stunning fashion.
The Colombian midfielder collected the ball deep in the blue half after Moisés Caicedo tripped and unleashed an unstoppable long-range shot that beat Petrovic.
The strike received high praise from football fans on social media, with some claiming it was “an absolute beauty”.
“That goal from Lerma was an absolute beauty,” wrote one fan on X, while a second said: “Amazing goal from Lerma.”
A third fan added: “Lerma with one of the worst shot attempts in Premier League history, followed ten seconds later by a scream obviously.”
Another was amazed by Lerma’s blow and said: ‘Wow. Wow. Wow. That was pure class on Jefferson Lerma’s part. That beauty’.
Former Liverpool and Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy was also quick to react, claiming it was the best goal he has seen this season.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I’m not sure I’ve seen a better strike than that this season.
“That’s a real rocket.”
