Expert warns Meghan Markle to stop making fake 'outfit changes'

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have come under fire following their recent tour of Colombia, with critics questioning the authenticity of their efforts and accusing them of “faking” their royal status. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who brought their regal charm to the South American region, have been accused of attempting to recreate the grandeur of official royal tours, despite having stepped back from their duties within the British monarchy.

In a scathing speech, Meghan Markle was told to stop doing fake “outfit changes,” further fuelling criticism of her carefully staged appearances. Royal author Robert Jobson didn’t mince his words when speaking to The sun Jobson criticised the couple’s approach, describing their visit to Colombia as an attempt to mimic the structure of a traditional royal tour, with elements of political engagement and charity work.

“They tried to give the impression of a quasi-royal tour, there were elements of politics and looking after young children,” Jobson explained. “At the end of the day, what I don’t understand is, if Meghan and Harry wanted to do ‘quasi-royal tours’, why didn’t they just stay and do it properly?” The expert questioned why the couple didn’t continue with their royal duties when they could have made a genuine impact on behalf of the King and the country.

Jobson suggested that rather than trying to organise grand, elaborate tours, Meghan and Harry should focus on more authentic and simple initiatives. “Do things that are authentic and real rather than things that are predestined to changing clothes over and over again,” he advised, implying that the couple’s efforts often seem more performative than sincere.

Criticism of Meghan and Harry’s tour of Colombia highlights the ongoing debate over the couple’s post-royal life and the credibility of their public initiatives. As they continue to navigate their new roles outside the British monarchy, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex face the challenge of balancing their desire to maintain a public profile with expectations of authenticity and sincerity from both the public and royal watchers.
