Mason Mount is back in the Manchester United squad for the first time in four months as Erik ten Hag welcomed back many injured stars for today’s FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool.
Ten Hag have been hamstrung by not being able to name their strongest squad in recent months, with £60million summer signing Mount a long-term absentee with a calf problem.
Mount starts this one on the bench, but Rasmus Hojlund and Aaron Wan-Bissaka both return to the starting XI.
Hojlund’s return is important for United after missing the last four games. Ten Hag’s team lacked a focal point in the middle and the Dane was in great form before getting injured.
Wan-Bissaka’s return to the side means Diogo Dalot will move to left-back, while Victor Lindelof, who played at left-back against Everton, will slot in at centre-back alongside Raphael Varane.

Brazil confirmed on Sunday morning that Casemiro was injured and was dropping out of the team with Scott McTominay alongside Kobbie Mainoo at the base of United’s midfield.
Marcus Rashford continues on the left while the in-form Alejandro Garnacho plays on the right. Bruno Fernandes is at number 10.
“All this week the enthusiasm around Carrington has been evident,” Ten Hag wrote in his program notes.
Harry Maguire is fit to return to the bench after a recent injury problem kept him out
“I don’t need to explain to anyone the importance and magnitude of this match.
“We have the two biggest clubs in English football, with the greatest pedigree and the greatest head-to-head rivalry.”
